iCloud for Windows is updated to support Appe ProRes videos and photos in Apple ProRaw

icloud for Windows

Apple has released a new update to the iCloud app for Windows, an update that adds compatibility with some of the new features that have arrived with the new iPhone 13 range.

With this new version, Apple allows you to generate secure passwords through the Passwords app in iCloud, allows users of a shared folder or file in iCloud to add or remove people and add support for videos in ProRes format and photos in Apple ProRaw format.

A few months ago, this app was updated adding a password manager, so that users could access their saved credentials not only from Apple devices but also from Windows PCs.

This functionality has gone one step further with an option to generate strong passwords that can be used by apps or websites, just like macOS and iOS.

The ProRAW and ProRes formats are Apple image and video codecs they store more information in each file and have less quality loss. With this new update, we can access videos and photos created in this format from a Windows PC.

The iCloud app for Windows too comes with other iCloud features, including Photos, Mail, Contacts and Calendar, although to be able to synchronize these data with a PC it is necessary to have a version of Microsoft Outlook, at least Outlook 2016.

To use the password manager through the corresponding extension, the minimum version is Chrome 91 or Edge Chromium. This feature is not available in other browsers. In order to sync bookmarks, we need Chrome or Edge version 91 and Firefox version 78 or later.

iCloud is available for your download completely free through the Microsoft Store by clicking on this link.
