Last Wednesday, the online Apple Store was available again after a few hours of maintenance to include the new iPods in its catalog. All three models were revamped, but the Nano and Shuffle only featured new colors. The iPod Touch did come with many new features, such as the 64-bit A8 processor or 8 megapixel camera. There are other components that we couldn't confirm 100% until iFixit got down to business and completely disassembled the new iPod.

iFixit confirms the first benchmarks, in which we could see that it had 1GB of RAM. More specifically it is 1GB LPDDR3 RAM, the same memory used by the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. It is double that of the previous model, which used 512mb DDR2 RAM. The processor, as you know, has given a giant leap when going from the A5 that also used the iPhone 4S (2011) to the A8, the newest processor, with permission from the A9, currently available on iOS devices.

Regarding the battery, the sixth generation iPod has a slightly larger battery than the previous model, this being 1043 mAh, only 13 mAh more than that of the fifth generation iPod (1030 mAh). The battery life is expected to be similar to the previous model. As we expected, the 8 megapixels of the camera of this new iPod does not mean that the camera is the same as that of the iPhone 6. The main camera of the iPhone 6 has an aperture ƒ / 2.2, being that of the new iPod of ƒ / 2.4. In this section, the lower the value, the better the photos come out.

Finally, iFixit has given the sixth generation iPod a value of 4 out of 10 in levels of "repairability". This is a lower point than the previous model, something that can be a lot or a little depending on which hands a device falls into.
