We have talked at length about the products in the IKEA TRADFRI range, those designed to make our lives easier thanks to the compatibility with various systems such as HomeKit or Amazon Alexa. However, one of the most interesting launches in recent months, IKEA's smart curtains, are not compatible with Apple's HomeKit, despite the fact that both companies, the Swedish and the North American, collaborate closely to offer facilities to their customers. Now IKEA's range of smart blinds and curtains receives an update that makes them HomeKit compatible, Do you already have any of these? We show you how they work.
As you have seen, colleagues from Actualidad Gadget already tested this blind when it was still compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant. Good news for users who ventured to buy them from the first, they are finally compatible with HomeKit. The first thing to note is that to get the most out of these functionalities it is strictly necessary to have the IKEA connection bridge (which usually costs around € 20), since otherwise you will not be able to control it directly, only with its RF controls included in the package. The advantage that they now have HomeKit compatibility is precisely that you can integrate it into your automations.
The first thing you will need is to update both the application and the connection bridge to the latest version and now it will automatically allow you to link these curtains with Apple HomeKit. My experience of using these smart curtains from IKEA is quite good, They work great and make your life quite easy, however, I have not yet tested the integration with HomeKit so in these next few weeks we will test it more in depth to see what the result that they end up offering definitely is, do you find it interesting?
