How to customize your favorite contacts in iOS 10

For me, one of the most interesting news of iOS 10 are the new widgets available on devices with a 3D Touch screen, although they are not exclusive to these devices. Personally, I don't like floating widgets on any operating system, but things change if we can show them with a gesture. In the case of the phone app for iPhone, the widget shows 4 of our favorite contacts so we can call them just by pressing harder and sliding your finger to their photo.

The best thing about this function is that, in addition, we can choose which phone to call, which wouldn't be anything special if it weren't for the new iOS 10 feature that allows us to call with compatible apps from the default iOS app. In this way, we can set a WhatsApp call to one of our contacts as a favorite. We explain how to do it below.

How to add favorite contacts

Adding favorite contacts in iOS 10 is no different, if I remember correctly, than how we added them in iOS 9. We will do it by following these steps:

1. We open the phone application.
2. We touch on the Favorites tab.
3. Next, we touch on the symbol «+».
4. We choose the contact that we want to add as a favorite.
5. Finally, from the options that are shown, we choose the one we want to add as a favorite, such as a WhatsApp call or an email.

Keep in mind that the widget it will only show us 4 of our contacts Favorites, so it is also worth sorting them by importance so that the contacts we usually talk to appear the most. To do so, from the same favorites tab we only have to touch on «Edit» and order our favorite contacts, the first 4 being the 4 that will appear in the widget.

It is a pity that this option is not yet compatible with text messages other than iMessage, but hey, this can be added by developers to the widgets of each application.
