Since the first adoption statistics for Apple's latest mobile operating system appeared, we have periodically informed you about the adoption of iOS 11, an adoption that has always lagged behind the previous version of iOS. One of the reasons for this slower adoption has been the slowdown in older devices, a slowdown that Apple has finally confirmed officially and that has become a serious image problem for the company and that has obliged to offer a battery replacement program for all those older terminals in addition to allowing the end user, through an update, be able to choose whether you want your device to perform at full capacity or to extend battery life, when it is not in optimal conditions.
Apple has updated the iOS 11 adoption data in the developer portal, and where we can see as of January 18, iOS 11 is installed on 65% of supported devicesWhile iOS 10, the previous version, is still found on 28% of supported devices. The rest, 7%, have a version prior to iOS 10.
If we compare these data with those of last year at the same timeWe can as iOS 10 had a 76% share on January 6 of last year. If we go back further in time, iOS 9 was at the end of January in 76% of devices, iOS 8 in 68%, while iOS 7 in the same dates in 80% of compatible devices.
The only consolation Apple has left, is that the latest version of iOS 11 jointly exceeds the quota of the last three versions of Android jointly. Presumably, as the battery replacement program works more stable and without battery shortages, this quota will increase, but all towards iOS 11 with the worst iOS adoption rate in recent years.
