La adoption rate of Apple's operating systems is a good statistical asset. In all the keynotes the large number of users that have the previous iOS installed. In this case, 81% of the compatible devices have updated to iOS 11, a large number if we compare it with previous versions of the software.
Today iOS reminds us that we have software updates through notifications in the Settings of our devices. After that, we went in and decided whether or not to install the version. iOS 12 includes a function by which automatically installs the new version released. Would you let iOS 12 update automatically?
Currently we can let the App Store automatically install updates of our applications. In this way, we will always have the latest version before we see that we have a new update. However, this is a small procedure that many people might miss. Instead, the new feature of iOS 12 could be talked about in the coming months.
The novelty is located in the menu Settings> General> Software updates> Automatic updates. An important aspect is to emphasize that this item comes disabled by default. That is, the user is the one who has to approve this novelty. It is important because if it were pre-activated from the factory it could have negative effects for Apple and its possible intentions to keep devices updated.
However, we do not know the procedure that will follow this new function. We do not know if, even doing it automatically, it will remind the user what is going to take place, or if it will notify the user to accept the new terms and conditions of the new version ... they are unknowns that will probably be revealed when Apple launches the iOS 2 beta 12 for developers.
