iOS 12 disables access via USB if our iPhone is not unlocked in an hour

iPhone 5 and Lightning connector

The Cupertino-based company continues to fight against all those companies or individuals who do everything possible to have access to the information we store inside and that there is no way to access their content, in addition to making it as difficult as possible.

In recent months, we have seen how the GrayKey, a device that allows you to obtain the iPhone unlock code, it has become a best-seller among law enforcement agencies, despite its high price. To prevent this device from trying to access our device and establish communication, Apple has introduced a new function that disables the USB connection when we are more than an hour without unlocking it.

As rumored a few weeks ago, Apple has implemented this option since the first beta in iOS 12, an option that is natively enabled. Within the security options, we can access the option that allows us to deactivate this option, an option that if we deactivate it will allow any device to establish communication with the device regardless of the time that has elapsed since the last time we have unlocked it.

As this option is natively activated, when we connect our device to a device through the lightning connection, the iPhone will ask us for the device password to be able to activate communication in both directions.

Apple has implemented this security measure to prevent the GrayKey from being able to access the terminal and find the unlock code of the terminal in question, unless it is connected within an hour since the last time it was unlocked and as long as the process does not exceed the established time.

If we want allow our iPhone to communicate with any device to which it connects through the lightning connection, we must go to Settings> Touch ID / Face ID and code, enter the unlock code for the terminal and activate the USB Accessories box.
