Good news for owners of "old" iPhone and iPod Touch as an alleged leak published by "The Verifier" ensures that all devices compatible with iOS 13 will also be compatible with iOS 14.
Every year with the new update to iOS that is announced at the beginning of summer, there are many users who see how their old iPhones are left out of the news that the new operating system brings by not being able to update to that new version. Apple is known for giving more years than anyone else in updates, but there always comes a time when you have to leave some devices behind. Well, this year it seems that it will not be like that, and everyone who has a device with iOS 13 will be able to update to iOS 14, according to The Verifier.
If this news is true, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, with five years behind them, will be able to be updated to iOS 14, as well as the first generation iPhone Se, which shares the same processor. Last year Apple left behind the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, unable to update to iOS 13, but its successors will have two more years of updates and will at least reach 2021 with the current operating system. Obviously we cannot expect them to include all the features of iOS 14, since Apple always restricts the most important ones to the newest devices, but at least they will have some new features and full compatibility with the new apps.
What we do not know anything about is iPadOS, the specific version for iPad but about which The Verifier has not wanted to say anything. We do not know if all iPads with iPadOS 13 will be updated to iPadOS 14, which would be logical, or if Apple will leave some on the way. There is less left for the announcement of the updates this June at WWDC 2020 that will be 100% online and that will remove us from doubts.
