According to the guys at Mixpanel, iOS 15 is currently on 58% of all supported devices, 80 days after its public release. iOS 14, meanwhile, is still found on 36% of devices that can be upgraded to iOS 15, and that really is all of them, since all devices that were upgraded to iOS 14, are also compatible with iOS 15.
Mixpanel claims that the adoption of iOS 15 is being somewhat slower than the previous version, despite the fact that they were practically released on the same date. At the moment, Apple has not announced official data about the adoption of iOS 15. The latest official data corresponds to iOS 14 and was published last June.
At that moment, iOS 14 was found on 85% of supported devices. One of the reasons why iOS 15 is having a slower adoption than its previous version is that Apple continues to release security updates for all users who want to stay on iOS 14.
It is clear that users they don't want to suffer the usual bad experiences of new versions of iOS, although precisely with iOS 15 the most veteran devices, such as the iPhone 6s and the iPad Air 2 work perfectly.
Another reason that has probably slowed down the adoption of iOS 15 is that it really no cool features for the user, since these focus on notifications, new designs in Apple applications and the complete redesign that Safari has undergone.
During the first weeks of the iOS 15 release, many users reported problems, problems that were quickly patched. Even so, it is the usual trend in the releases of new versions of iOS every year.
