If you just received your new iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max and you are a registered user in the Apple Betas program, don't even think about updating to iOS 16.1 because GPS location is completely broken.
Apple has just released iOS 16 and we already have an update to iOS 16.0.1 for new iPhones due to problems with device activation, and a first Beta of iOS 16.1 for iPhone (second for iPad) in which new features will be added , and some bugs will be corrected, but which (as is normal on the other hand in a Beta) brings new bugs. One of those bugs has to do with GPS location, which doesn't work on the new iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. The problem that many users have on their devices, among which I include myself, is that Although the iPhone can give you an approximate location of where you are, the precise location does not work, and this means that in applications where it is essential to locate you exactly, we have problems. It is impossible to establish a route in Apple Maps or Google Maps and have it guide you properly through it, making continuous jumps that generate constant route changes, making navigation a disaster.
The new iPhone 14 Pro and the Max model include a new dual-frequency GPS system (L1 and L5) which should increase accuracy of location services, especially in those places with tall buildings, such as cities, where conventional GPS tends to fail more. This new system must be the source of the problems with version 16.1 because the rest of the older iPhone models do not fail. We hope that Apple will soon release a new Beta update, but in the meantime it is best to stay away from it, especially if applications that use GPS are important to you in your day-to-day life.
