iOS 7.1 will fix the problem of geolocation in applications closed by the user

According to the developers, the applications that work in iOS 7 and are based on location, lose their ability to track GPS coordinates when the user closes them. In iOS 7.1 beta, this issue has been resolved, allowing apps to keep recording location even when closed.

This "shutdown" of location services has not only been a problem for developers, it has also handicapped scores location-based applications.

Life360 is an iOS application that allows users to track family members using geolocation. This app has been affected by this new feature and, together with other developers, sent Apple a letter explaining the effect of iOS 7 on the performance of their applications and some opinions.

Dear Apple iOS Developer Team,

We are a group of Apple developers who rely on iOS geolocation services for core functions of our apps. iOS 7 was very exciting for us with its new features like; location beacons, background work, and multi-peer connectivity all give us the ability to do things we never thought possible.

In previous versions of iOS, if a user closed an application, developers were still able to obtain geolocation data. With iOS 7, once a user closes an application, all processes are terminated until the user reopens the application. We appreciate the intent of this change, we realize that it was made to give users more control over what runs on their phones, but it has caused major unintended consequences. … Many developers who relied on geolocation have seen their app ratings drop by more than 3 stars.

According to Life360, the developers noticed a change in iOS 7.1 beta 5. In this latest beta version, the application's location services they continue to run in the background even though the application has been closed.

But there is also the other side, as some users do not like this change since when they close the application, they do it deliberately, because they do not want the application to run in the background. These advanced users will lose this ability, leaving only the option to turn off location services in the configuration.

Additional details will be available once iOS 7.1 is made available to the public. The final version for the iPhone and iPad is expected to be in March.

And if they work once closed, will it not increase the battery consumption?
On the other hand, if the geolocation works to search for my iPhone, it is enough for me.
Also with the jailbreak done, a lot would have to offer 7.1 for me to update

Well, only with the betas you notice a much higher performance and fluidity than in 7.0.5 ... and I'm talking about a 5s despite having installed noslowanimations ... I prefer greater stability, fluidity and performance before the jailbreak

Sounds good to me, it's that I don't have a slow eliphone 5, and I'm doing great with the tweaks that I have installed
