iOS 8.1 the features that will arrive next Monday to our iPhone and iPad

iOS-81-iPhone-6

This Thursday we had the opportunity to see the presentation of the new iPads and the impressive iMac with Retina 5K support, the presentation went as expected but this time we saw that they were sincere with the problems suffered by iOS 8 and they told us how they are working hard to eliminate problems quickly.

The long-awaited update to 8.1 has been in beta and we have commented on the improvements it brought with respect to its predecessor, this monday will be available for everyone in a way Delivery to Italy takes one or two business days and I want to make a small summary of the new functions that we will find in it.

Apart from the necessary error correction the most interesting features will be:

Instant Hotspot

You can use Internet Sharing on your iPhone to provide Internet access to your other devices. You need to log in to iCloud using the same Apple ID as your iPhone. Also you telephone operator should offer this feature.

To access the Internet from your phone, go to Settings > WiFi on your other iOS device and select your phone.

System Requirements

To connect to Internet Sharing, your device requires:

  • Wi-Fi: Support for 802.11g / n using WPA2 encryption.
  • USB: A Mac or PC that has iTunes 9.2 or later installed.
  • Bluetooth: Mac OS X v10.4.11 or Windows.

Operator requirements

Make sure your telephone operator offers Internet Sharing for your device and that you have Internet Sharing enabled in your phone plan:

  • iPhone: Consultation the list of operators compatible with Internet Sharing on iPhone.
  • iPad and iPad miniContact the operator to check availability.

SMS

If you have OS X Yosemite and an iPhone with iOS 8, you can send and receive SMS directly from the Mac. And is that all the messages that arrive on the iPhone will also appear on the Mac, so your conversation will be updated on all your devices.

You can also start an SMS or iMessage conversation from the Mac by clicking any phone number from Safari, Contacts, Calendar or Spotlight.

iCloud Photo Library

It is Apple's answer to the problem of keep all our photos and videos with the greatest security. iCloud Photo Library will go live as a public beta version starting Monday with iOS 8.1.

The idea is that iCloud will store all records and audiovisual media that we use in our communications and that they are always available for any device that is accessed with that iCloud account. That involves both devices iOS, Macs, and the iCloud website.

Apple Pay

On Monday the launch of payment through Apple Pay in the US, Apple's new system that combines NFC and Touch ID technologies, so that the devices that have them can carry out transactions, as long as the retailer support this type of transaction.

I remind you that the insertion of this payment system will be progressive Due to the need to restructure the work protocols of the companies that initially want to be Apple members and promote this secure payment system.

Photo roll

After user complaints, they will return the Photo roll understood as we had it until this update to iOS 8.

And the issue of transferring files by AirDrop from iPhone to Mac?

    Many useless things we go
    Improves the battery?
Does it improve the huge amount of bugs?
Add to put 2g to save battery?
    The useful nor an explanation

Correction of errors, is what we know so far, obviously nothing of this has been communicated nor I think it will be known until the system is removed and tested….

Pure stupid improvements, urgently fix the continuous loss of 3g and wifi signal, everything is blocked, terrible this IOs 8.0.2

There is a popular saying that says that it never rains to everyone's liking, we do not all have the same concerns or the same needs, although some are quite generic as it would be more battery life, but calling it stupid improvements does not seem appropriate, if they are improvements, that they are welcome, we want others ???? ', right, for example it seems very strong that the exchange for AirDrop does not go if you do not have a Mac from 2012 or later, in my case with an Air from the end of the 2010 does not suit me.

I think iCloud in general is a mess. It is not at all clear how it works. On the one hand there is the web and on the other the iOS devices. First it was photos in streaming, now iCloud Photo Library, then they remove the film ... it will have duplicated everywhere ... I do not think it is a clear matter. Then there are people with two emails (their own and the one from iCloud that is associated with the Apple ID ...) It's a mess, I actually only use iCloud for contacts. I am not going to update to iOS 8 or Yosemite because I see that everything becomes much more messy. Apple is no longer simple and straightforward, at least in this regard.

Your comment is very true, a mess that makes you not even know where you have the photos. However I recommend Yosemite, I love the clarity of the design

The AirDrop has been what has encouraged me to update, I have passed a 400 Mb video in 10 seconds, the speed is impressive (it was already a year that the AirDrop was useful for something)

I join the question, in the end they will let us select the 2G ??????? Those of us who live in areas with little coverage would be very useful to us.

Let's see. I have a problem since ios8.0.2 and I don't know if it has happened to more genet, I did not leave an iCloud account with my sister, and since we both update to iOS 8.0.2 every time I call one of them, the also called the other. It comes out in number and below "calling from another iPhone" If they call her and I take it, having already taken it, after a few seconds it cuts out, but I can get to talk and hear everything. If I take it directly, it is what they would have called me. The same as if they call me and she does it. I thought it was an account problem or something, but my parents also share an account and it happens to them too. It is not a very serious problem but it is annoying. Any solution?

I will not update my iPhone 5 until I see results in others because with the latest updates my iPhone hangs or has lag, it is very slow while with ios 7 it was working very well and that I made the update clean as recommended. Although these updates seem useless to me if I hope it fixes the current bugs.

For me, the reel seems like a beastly backwardness, by the time a folder for each topic, let me explain, because all the photos on the reel, WhatsApp, camera, bluetooth etc.
Wouldn't it be more logical that everything was in your folder?

    1.    emily said

+1000, I find this a depressing topic, and the truth is, that I have my whatsapp groups passing photos, videos, bullshit of everything, and have the reel to burst, I have every day to erase one by one, which in the android that I have, it's all by folders, this is something that apple has to solve… ..

Internet sharing was possible for at least three years now, I share every day from my iPhone to my mac. Also the other "novelty" that of the msm that already could be from before. The truth is that I do not know what it brings again or we have to investigate more

    1.    Ariel veli said

Agree with you. I do not know what exactly is the novelty with that of sharing the internet, I did it even when I had a 3GS

      1.    Carmen rodriguez said

The improvement is that now you don't have to go to the phone and activate Internet sharing, search the network, etc ... it does it automatically once you have the devices under the same ID

Does anyone know when the ads for the new iPhones will appear on Spanish television networks? Thanks

  12.   Luis Reinoso said

Good morning I want to know if you are going to fix because since I update my iPhone the screen locks when a call is received and it is not always and I do not know who is calling I have to turn off the phone so that it works again

Will you incorporate rSAP (Remote SIM Access Protocol) all at once? necessary to make use of data from many built-in car browsers

  16.   Caesar said

TOTALLY agree with the comment that the REEL is a backlog… it is as simple as storing each photo in the folder that you consider appropriate, why have all the photos mixed on the reel?… Greetings
