iOS 8 hides a 3D Virtual Tour in the Maps application

Hackers continue to uncover all the hidden details of the iOS 8 Betas, and now we have a new feature that Apple has not said anything about and that cannot be accessed normally: a 3D city tour using the bird's eye view of the iOS Maps app. It has been discovered by the developer Pierre Blazquez, and it could correspond to a novelty that appeared discreetly in a slide of the Apple presentation but about which nothing was said: City Tour. We show you in a video what exactly this option is.

As you can see, it is about what we could do manually using the "Fly Over" option in Maps but done automatically, showing us two very significant architectural elements of a city like Paris, the Pantheon in the first place and the Cathedral of Notre Dame later. All done with rotation and zoom effects to make browsing more visually appealing. The option is currently only available in some cities, the aforementioned Paris and also Rome, New York, Barcelona, Glasgow, San Francisco, etc. It is undoubtedly still a function in testing phase and that in the launch of iOS 8 it will surely include many more cities, probably all those for which there is a 3D view.

As we indicated a few days ago, Maps was one of the applications absent in the last Keynote. Despite the fact that Apple is working hard to improve its famous application, it seems that poor planning has meant that all the planned improvements were not ready to be shown at WWDC 2014. It is expected that there will be many news in a future presentation, probably in the that the new Apple devices are presented (iPhone 6, new iPads, iWatch, etc) which will surely be immediately after the summer vacation period.
