iOS 9 is going to be much more than we all thought. In May, we all believed that iOS 9 would bring a couple of important new features and the rest would be internal improvements. How wrong we were. Little by little we discovered that the next version of Apple's mobile operating system is full of small details and that, if we put them all together, we have a great operating system as a result. The last detail discovered is that iOS 9 will allow us to convert and save all kinds of documents in PDF.
Actually it is not a novelty that is very hidden. It is well visible. The problem I imagine is that we do not pay much attention to the iBooks icon, at least I do. We are more used to that, once we tap on the share button (
), which is the one you have to touch to show us the option to save in PDF, we have to look at the icons of mail, Twitter, Facebook and then Telegram, WhatsApp or any compatible messaging app.
When we tap on the share button and choose the option that says (for now) «Save PDF to iBooks«, It will convert the document to PDF, save it in iBooks and open it for us. This it can come in handy to save entire webs that have information that interests us and that we want to read without an internet connection. But we can not only save webs; we can also save photos, notes and other types of documents.
If what we want is to save a website, it is best to first touch the icon to the left of the URL, which are 4 lines (the lower one is shorter). With this we will go to "Reader" mode and it will eliminate unnecessary images and texts from the web. The image above is an example of what a website would look like in Reader mode saved as PDF in iBooks for iPhone (the image has two captures together).
As you can see in the image that heads this article, this novelty also exists to save reminders. For example, we can save a website with its title and URL in a reminder to read it later. Does this mean that Apple wants to make things easier for us when we want to share documents?
I had been looking forward to this, sending feedback to apple and even from workflow they had told me that pdf could not be saved from reading view ... this is a point in favor of apple, I will end up installing the beta of ios 9 hehe
Hello Alvaro. From Workflow it is possible. I have it and I think I put it in an article I wrote about Workflow. But, hey, that particular workflow has its days numbered. When iOS 9 arrives, to the trash.
can you share it?
Will Apple with iOS9 end the 4s era ???
This seems excellent to me. Sometimes I have to read things when I get on the plane, and now with this I can download it and read it without problems. =)
