In February 2020, the head of Instagram, Chris Welch, stated that they didn't have enough resources to keep Instagram on two different platforms such as iOS and iPadOS due to lack of resources. It seems that absurd excuses are the usual trend of those responsible for Meta products.
In an interview The Verge, the head of WhatsApp, Will Cathcart, affirms that users have been asking for their own application for iPad for a long time, an application that, in literal words "would you like to do it". I don't know which answer is more absurd, that of the CEO of Instagram or that of Will Cathcart.
Cathcart says WhatsApp can now be used on any desktop or browser thanks to technology it implemented last November to support multiple devices, which allows turn off our iPhone without losing the connection with the application.
When almost 8 years have passed since the purchase of WhatsApp by Meta, if the company has not launched an application for iPad it will be for the same reasons that it has not launched one for Instagram: not interested.
The final decision to launch an application for this device will depend on what Mark Zuckerberg says. If he has said no, without giving any compelling reason, those responsible for the rest of the companies that are part of Meta, have to deal with the questions that any answer, as absurd as it seems.
WhatsApp is a clear example of a company that is content with the leadership position it has in almost the entire world and that does not worry about keeping users happy. And for now It doesn't look like this will change in the future.
For now, the only option that we iPad users have to be able to use WhatsApp is the same as when WhatsApp Web was launched, using any browser.
