With the two devices Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), most anticipated of the year in the market, there are many images that are presented to us and many characteristics analyze in different reviews and comparisons. Today it is the turn of the front camera of these two magnificent devices that the company from the block has presented to us very recently and that have not left anyone indifferent.

As we know, both have an iSight camera, although not of the same megapixels. At iPad Air we find a 5MP camera (the same happens in the iPad mini) compared to the 8 megapixels of iPhone 5s. Even so, the difference between them is not so much, as we will see later. There is no doubt that Apple has done a great job with the camera of the two terminals, this is the result.

General everyday photography

When it comes to the photos that most of us take in our day-to-day lives, which do not require great precision or search for the perfect photo, both devices perform very well. Of course, photos taken with the iPhone are always going to be something higher then  to those of the iPad but if, for whatever reason, we do not have the iPhone at hand and we only have the iPad Air, this will be more than enough to fulfill our purpose. One of the most notable aspects is that it calibrates the light much better than its predecessors. It's a great example of how when hardware and software work together, great results are achieved.

Photos in Macro mode

In this mode, the behavior of the two terminals is quite good, although it should be noted that the iPhone 5s achieves a better balance and adjustment of the colors In the photography. We can see this in the first photo, where the color of the sidewalk in the right corner has a more faithful tone to reality in the case of the iPhone 5s.

HDR photos

Here things are still fairly even, although the iPhone 5s is still slightly above, showing more faithfully what is placed in front of the camera.

Low light photography

Here, finally, the difference between the two devices is clear. The contrast between one and the other is brutal, winning by a lot the iPhone 5s. We can see with the naked eye how the »noise»Is very, very superior in the photos taken with the iPad Air, being in evidence compared to the photos taken from the iPhone, where there is an abysmal improvement in their quality. If we are going to take a lot of photos in low light, it better be with the iPhone.

All the images have been made with the default options and autofocus, leaving the device to do all the work itself.

The quality of the images posted cannot be appreciated well. I recommend an HTML5 gallery code, so that the photo opens at its normal size and quality! This in my opinion

Very good camera! It will be at the height of the iphone 5 I calculate, I thought it was going to be bad but apparently it takes good photos 😀
