iPhone as Ultraportable

Dell-pocket

At this week's Keynote, Cupertino engineers had the audacity (or "face") to compare the iPod Touch (and the iPhone, therefore) as if it were an ultraportable, something that would partly be fine if they completed the Software of OS X iPhone.

That is why I am going to dedicate a series of Post with which you can make your iPhone more complete than ever through the Jailbreak and the Cydia App. OS X iPhone has as many perfections as there are imperfections.

  • Hardware:

Apple was very undemanding when it came to creating the first iPhone. From the beginning they had planned to leave the iPhone as it was presented to us, without App, without many more modifications ... The great hardware update has arrived with the 3Gs, a very fast terminal that suggests that the iPhone will one day be a lot faster than any Smartphone thanks, in large part, to Software. However for now we can only say that some HTCs are better equipped than the iPhone.

The screen, the speaker and the camera (especially the 2G and 3G) are very bad. An HTC HD is impressive to see the quality of its screen or its camera, or the speakers of the Sony Ericsson and the Nokia. Apple should improve in these respects.

  • Software:

Of course, the best mobile system I have seen has been the iPhone, fast, simple, as it should be, but they are too simple. The original firmware of the iPhone looks like that of a mobile version «Simply». It is not a full-fledged operating system. When you have a mobile with Windows Mobile you feel (apart from anger at the slowness in general) that you are looking at a mini PC with mini Windows. The start menu, Windows Media Player in all its splendor… these are the things that make you see that you have a computer a little "overworked".

This does not feel so much with the iPhone, we have Safari (the best mobile browser I have ever seen), we have Mail (which I will talk about because it has some important shortcomings), and almost nothing else. We do not have Finder, we do not have QuickTime as Jobs brought it to the world (that biblical), that is, it is not a program but rather a Plugins. We do not have a Terminal (command console), we cannot download files from the internet, or save those from Mail.

What does all this mean, that Apple has made its typical "Simplify your life" or "It just works" to adapt the iPhone to everyone but forgetting the advanced user. In this case, those from Cupertino could have created Mac OS X iPhone Users and Mac OS X iPhone Switchers, the first being the one we all have now and the second being the one that includes Finder and other Mac App. And I can't help but think that when someone has their HTC HD with Windows it seems more professional (I mean the terminal) than the iPhone (although the iPhone is really incredible and unmatched).

But why doesn't Apple do it? Well, I can only think of two options, the first because they will do it but with a dropper (like everything) or the second out of fear. Apple was reluctant to the App Store at first, however they allowed it but with absolute control of the App and it does not want anyone to touch its OS, but its OS for computers is very "fiddled" and nothing happens. In other words, there are many modifications for Mac OS X and millions of programs (the vast majority "Hackable") and even so Apple does not close its system so much.

So what happens? Well, I can only think of two explanations. The first is that opening the system more would imply more illegal downloads and therefore 30% less per application for Apple. The second is caused by ourselves. It is clear that we wanted an App and they gave it to us, without an official SDK and affecting performance (much of it caused by attempts to avoid Jailbreak by Apple). I think Apple may be suspicious of modifying its system and even more so with programs that are not theirs (and also free). That is why it will no longer open the system, however later I will give a series of solutions to open it but in a coherent way.

This, so to speak, has been the introduction, now I will dedicate myself to recommend Cydia App to improve the great operating system that is Mac OS X iPhone.

good text friend, and you are right in: ¨It is that opening the system more would imply more illegal downloads and therefore 30% less per application for Apple¨ more than anything else is that NEGONIC AND MONEY THROUGH… .but we know that the free bluetooth, a decent camra, flash ... they will not put it, because directly they pass, the users of the iphone 3g, they fuck like me, because they do not want to put voicecontrol, video recording, and all the paraphernalia that They have put the 3gs, but Apple is not stupid, it always brings out a new iPhone, with more things, but the previous one (that is, the 3gs) will not be included, because they would already take out the new one ... the same thing happens with everything else ... ..All the best

In short: "you have not said ANYTHING that has not been said ALREADY".
The iPhone is what it is and will be what APPLE wants, which is why it has been created, and it will continue to be that way, for economic interests or for what comes out of its testicles.
What if the camera, the open blutuz, the flash, the other Flash, the videoconference, etc, etc ... YA CANSA and above all CANSA that people who have the device in question say so from the first day it went on sale .
All of this is so simple: “whoever doesn't like it and has it should sell it (insured sale) and whoever doesn't have it and wants to play cool music and cool photos for the“ blutuz ”should NOT buy it.
I remember that APPLE does not force anyone.

I don't know if yes -hellinero- that comment goes with me, but I don't know how you took it if it is towards me… .I have it, yes, not from the first day (nor has he made me), I like the phone and A LOT … But Apple could take care of its buyers and take care of them a little… is what I say….

Anyway, and accepting the comments made, it seems to me an excellent article, very clear and synthetic, although complete, about the deficiencies that our beloved iPhone has.
In any case, I want to take advantage of this forum and comments space to include aspects that in my opinion are the Achilles tendon for the iPhone.
1- it is unthinkable that they charge for updating the firmware of the ipods touch. But when in truth it is not including anything really magnificent and Apple already had us used to updating them for free, why now charge?
2- It is already known by all, THE BATTERY, many have talked about this, but do not continue adding functions if we do not make them consume less energy to function,
3- Applications in second place, be it the Apple style that I love or like windows minimize in the explorer, but sometimes it is annoying especially for certain applications that do not support being in second place.

Finally I add a wish, if our beloved device already unmatched included a mini-projector in future editions, I would not hesitate a second to change my 3G, which for now I do not think to change to 3Gs.
Greetings to all, I hope the debate continues these things enrich Apple.

Ultraportable… please, I like my iPhone, but that classification is deserved by more terminals such as the new Nokia N900, that is an ultraportable….
