IPhones 4s already indicate 4G connectivity

A few minutes ago Apple made available to all its users the new iOS 5.1 with a novelty that we cannot fail to mention and that affects all those people who reside in the United States and have an AT&T iPhone. From now on the connectivity will change to 4G depending on whether the user is in an area prepared for 4G.

At the moment there is no statement from Apple explaining this change nor do we know when it will be extended to other telephone companies. A step that has been taken to accompany the arrival of the new iPad with a true LTE connection. The iOS 5.1 is thus prepared to show the 4G icon on the retina screen of the new Apple tablet.

Telephone operators will have to put the batteries to improve infrastructure and adapt to the arrival of 4G, a connection that is ten times faster than 3G. Hopefully, in this way, the constant connectivity problems in large cities will improve.

Is it known if it will also be incorporated into the iphone 4?

Buenoooooooo, because with the crisis that we are suffering (and what we have to come !!!), because it will take a loooong time to see a "4G" displayed on the screen of our iPhones 4s
I do not think that the operators (at least here in "Las Españas") are buoyant - monetarily speaking - to be modifying infrastructures now…. And more now (crisis aside), that people begin to see the excellence of the "small companies" (Simyo, Pepephone, etc), which has had a negative impact on the profits of these "main" companies (and thieves!)
Anyway, we will have to wait ... What a remedy ...

I do not get it. The 4S is not supposed to be 4G.

I do not understand, the iphone 4s is not supposed to support 4G so I do not understand this news very well, to see if someone can explain it to us.

For those who said they did not understand ... I have made a hypothesis of this, since the iPhone 4S comes with HSDPA + connection (commonly called 3.5G or 3G turbo), in many smartphones, when it connects to HSDPA in the status it appears the « H "indicating that it is connected to that network, on the other hand, in the iPhone 4S it did not happen, when you were connected to the previously named network, the" 3G "continued to appear in the status, what those from Cupertino have done, was to name to HSDPA connection as 4G connection. Because while we know, the iPhone 4S does not come with LTE technology, nor any technology that allows it to connect to 4G. From here I have drawn two conclusions about why they have not wanted to introduce the letter "H", they have entered "4G" meaning that you are connected to HSDPA.
First conclusion: Surely they have not liked how the "H" looks and they liked to put "4G" because it is more luxurious (in addition we have seen videos of Samsungs

Does the 4S have 4G then? I have always heard that no, that is to say, that if Movistar improved its infrastructures, could it use the iPhone 4S with 4G or until the next model that it buys me, no? Everything seems very strange to me xD

Second conclusion: perhaps Apple should make people believe that it has 4G connectivity (when it is not true) and thus get people's attention.

But remember that 4G will never exist in an iPhone 4S because it does not have the technology to connect to said network, it is nothing more than an HSDPA connection, called as 4G (which it is not)

They have 4G on the screens because that's what the AT&T company calls 3.5G networks and does not put H as in other companies but the 4S does not support true 4G networks and it is not Apple's fault to place 4G on the iPhone screens ... ………………… I don't know if the iPhone 4 will also get 4G on the screen because it also supports 3.5 G networks

You have every reason, the iPhone 4s does not have the technology to support true 4G networks. And about the iPhone 4, I don't know if they support HSDPA connection.

The iPhone 4 does have HSDPA.

For those of us who live in Spain, it doesn't matter whether or not it has LTE, I don't think that this year they will install it or even work as it should, at least with Movistar.
