Use your tutorial and I update everything to perfection. But then I wanted to upload some applications to itunes and transfer them to the iphone, but they crashed and made the iphone stop working. The apple did not even appear.
Desperate the only thing I could do is restore firmware 3.1 from iTunes and I got the well-known error "your sim card is not enabled…." Now I have the inconvenience that when trying to install your ipsw it informs me of the error 1600.
I made several attempts from itunes with several to go to previous or current versions and I was not successful.
What should I do to recover the iphone from a PC?

Well, yesterday I finally upgraded my iPhone 2G to 3.1 using this firmware, and it was really perfect and without problems.

1) I installed iTunes 9.
2) I paired the iPhone.
3) I restored the iPhone using the modified firmware (SHIFT key…).
3) In 15 minutes, firmware 3.1 and agenda and everything else synced again.

The only issues were that some folders did not have write permission (notes and GPRS / EDGE settings), but it had to be from the old data being restored and nothing that couldn't be fixed via SSH.

If the off button doesn't work for you, you don't have the option to put it in DFU mode.
You can turn off the iPhone with Cydia's mQuickDo app, but you can't put it in DFU mode then.
