Legal uproar over "error 53", lawyers charge against Apple

Several of the most popular law firms in the United States (the country of the lawsuits) and the United Kingdom are seriously considering starting a joint proceeding against Apple for the famous "error 53" that is affecting so many devices repaired by third parties. The "error 53" controversy has been dragging on all week since a journalist from The Guardian He ran out of iPhone after having performed a repair at an unauthorized center, after which he lost all the information on his iPhone, causing a stir on all networks.

The iFixit team was quick to detail the problem, repairs in unauthorized centers as well as the installation of non-original components can cause conflicts with the TouchID authentication system, which causes a kind of system freeze that prevents access to the iPhone in any way. Apple came to the fore to excuse themselves, saying that they are doing all this to preserve the security and privacy of users, and that it is not some kind of covert war against "pirate" repairmen.

According to some UK lawyers, this measure by Apple violates part of the legislation in force in their legal system, arguing that Apple destroys private property. On the other hand, a law firm in Seattle (USA) also wants to start a class action lawsuit against Apple, so it has asked customers affected by "error 53" to contact them to streamline the process and join forces.

We do not know what measures Apple will take or if it will decide to solve this before it goes even further, however, several technical services that if duly authorized have begun to receive instructions and components to solve the problems caused by the "error 53" that so many havoc is causing.

Seriously ... REALLY ??? !!, what are they going to brute forcefully get Apple to open back doors on their iOS ... and I don't like that at all at all ... as they always say "cheap is expensive ..."

To have how this ends ... because we are going ... in my opinion you are that I change it in an unauthorized center ... I go to Apple and they do it, at least they do it well for me, I pay whatever is necessary, the screens are 100 euros that it is not much either ... they are also of quality ..

I also understand countries that do not have official Apple Store ... but I think they can send a technician to pick it up, right?

    regards

Good afternoon, as is the norm of this house, we try to delve into the problem and we want to share this experience with everyone, having said that, I will give my opinion on the famous error 53:

    - The explanations given by apple seem to me the most accurate to safeguard our sensitive data, we just have to think that if the iPhone is stolen, with a minimal repair in any unauthorized center or being a little handyman, they can get all our information , bank accounts, credit cards, keys, etc. etc. That is why I see well Apple's position on this issue, if someone changes the Home button, the iPhone locks and they cannot enter the information.

That said, I contacted the Apple SAT and requested the repair officially, paying what they deem appropriate (this is another debate) for an iPhone 6S affected by error 53, and that's when I do not share the policy of Apple and it seems to me the most absurd, since after a long time and making the appropriate checks, from level 2 of Sat, I am officially told that that iPhone with error 53, is considered irrecoverable and therefore I both have a nice paperweight.

This is what I do not understand, or at least I do not share in this whole issue, let's hope that Apple reconsiders its position and charging what it has to charge, repair those iPhone officially.

    What do you think?

    regards

They will not be able to get the data or unlock by putting a fingerprint reader on a stolen mobile.

What they can do is put a reader on it and have it save your fingerprint data and send it to someone else.

This apple maneuver is an action that only a stupid person could defend, it is as if I buy a car and I can only change the tires in an official workshop knowing that it will be much more expensive than in a friend's workshop.

But hey there will always be people who defend the indefensible.

The controversy over the "error 53" has dragged on all week since a journalist from The Guardian ran out of iPhone after having carried out a repair in an unauthorized center.

In the first place, the person responsible is the owner of said telephone for not taking it to an authorized center and secondly, those who carried out the repair of said telephone without knowing how to do it correctly, otherwise this controversy would not have occurred due to a poorly done job. , for incompetent.

What is crystal clear is that this journalist from The Guardian is a low-light person. Look at you, take an iPhone to the trunk in the corner, so that it can be repaired; soul of a pitcher!

Excuse my intrusion, but I get the feeling that you don't really know what you're saying. The result of the so-called Apple failure 53, is not a question of having been a malpractice in a repair of an iPhone terminal. The error just occurs when you fail to install an Apple certified part. The moment the system detects a part without said certificate (Not Original), by default it blocks the system without further ado. It is obvious and evident that once again he abuses his arrogance, it is totally illegal, since he makes his own an article that we buy with our money. This is the same as when we bought a car and were forced to go through an official dealer so as not to lose the warranty, only in this case it is even more serious, since they do not give us the option to choose another repair center. Currently there is a free competition law that regulates all this, avoiding such unjustified abuses.

Apple wants to sell us the security roll. IT'S TOTALLY ABSURD. Everything is inexpensive. They take us for fools, and of course that if things do not change, I am fully convinced that my next terminal, another peripheral, will not be Apple. What Apple wanted to do with this, is a monopoly, and that is prohibited. I believe that there are other healthier ways of doing things and not at the expense of the consumer, precisely this happens to the iPhone 6 onwards, I wonder ... ... the iPhone 5s what happens to it? this terminal also has »id touch» and is not blocked. Besides, who allows them to make updates without previously informing their clients? It is a good trap, all this has a name, they are totally PREPOTENT.

I do not advocate in this line, they are not transparent. You cannot steal the money from our wallets, it is what they are blatantly doing., The user is the buyer and must choose where to repair his terminal, by the way, an iPhone 6 screen does not cost 100 euros, it is almost double. And I, who have paid 700 euros for an iPhone 6, cannot force me to take them to finish, it is totally absurd and abusive, the prices that the firm has are excessively expensive, some thieves.

      It is my humble opinion.

Lie lie and lie from Apple and some of you. THIS ERROR IS FIXED WITH 4 DOLLARS. I already did it on an iPhone 6, and it fits perfectly, but I will not say the trick. It cost me a lot of research.

    1.    iOS 5 Forever said

Well, do not say it, that it does not need to be done.
It is fixed by changing the "flex" cable that connects the replaced components and that's it.
What a mystery ... what a research you have done ...

Sure enough, that's how it works, but be careful (as I have been able to read, I have not checked) the iPhone is fully operational again, but you lose the functionality of the fingerprint.

I want to change the screen of my iPhone 5 in an unauthorized center, am I at risk of error 53? Or does it only affect terminals with touch id?
