Dropbox Mailbox and Carousel, close next year

Mailbox

Yesterday Monday the guys from Dropbox released two news that more than one will not like a hair. On the one hand we find the Carousel service that we allowed to automatically upload our photos to Dropbox will close next year. With such a small storage space for free, it was quite difficult for users to make use of it, more than what was strictly necessary to obtain the 3 GB that Dropbox offered us for using this service.

On the other hand we find Mailbox, another service that will stop working, the mail client that arrived on the App Store about two years ago and that was bought by Dropbox shortly after, to revolutionize email applications, adding finger gestures to perform the most common operations every time we consult our inbox.

Carousel

Dropbox looks like you want to focus solely on what is currently giving you money and that they are none other than paying customers of its storage service and it plans to close Mailbox on February 26 while Carousel will lower the blind on March 31, a longer date for users to download their stored content to avoid that with the reduction of the 3 GB that they offered us, the photographs that we had stored were erased.

The functions that we used in Carousel will end up integrated into DropboxIn the form of the company, it will allow us to perform the same functions only with an application but without offering us that curious and beautiful aesthetic used to consult the images that we had stored in the cloud. The case of Mailbox is more curious because after its purchase, the company has only continued to offer support for Gmail, without allowing users to add email accounts from other services, something that has forced many users to make use of other applications with a very similar operation, due to gestures, such as Spark and Outlook.
