Maps launches Virtual Reality with iOS 11 [VIDEO]

The second Beta of iOS 11 continues to leave us news that is being discovered little by little since Apple did not even mention them in its Keynote presentation. One of them affects the iOS 11 Maps application and uses the new ARKit that Apple has put in the hands of developers and that so much good news is giving lately, being one of the novelties with the most potential of this new iOS 11.

With the new Maps application, whenever we have the Flyover option in a city, we can use the movement of our iPhone to move. We can move forward, backward, turn, tilt up or down and the view in Maps will change depending on that movement, as if we were pointing the camera. We show it to you on video.

This new function shows that it is still in an early development phase with many aspects to improve, but it points to the possibility that with iOS 11 we can locate ourselves in a street and pointing with our camera we can see how to get to a specific place or where the point of interest we are looking for is located. We do not know more details because as we say Apple has not mentioned anything about it, but taking into account the new Augmented Reality applications that are being developed and the potential of the next iPhone 8 this new function has many possibilities.

In the video you can see how the animations are sometimes not too fluid, although it must be borne in mind that the iPhone is in turn recording its own screen. Some users who are testing the Beta assure that in older devices it does not work well or this option does not appear directly., so its requirements may be high and only the most modern terminals can use it. We will have to wait for it to be polished in the next Betas to really see what this novelty is.

The option is fine, but when I go on trips I use google maps, with the iphone it would not arrive, it fails, I do not know immediately if I am walking towards the correct path, the arrow does not indicate the direction I am taking well and with the google one if If it were because of the iPhone, I would not reach the hotel or any site, I always have to use google maps.
