I admit it, I'm a big fan of Marline and Javi Pérez. In all its apps, it shows its clear intention that, above all, the app be beautiful. Marline is no exception, I would say, in fact, that it is the ultimate expression of this philosophy.
Marline is an app in which you can check the tides, the moon phase and the weather in a different way. In a simple and beautiful way. Something that made me fall in love the first time I saw her.
Tides are something that do not worry many. Despite having so much coastline in Spain, meteorology apps ignore this information (of the little that they could give with certainty), and those that report the tides are usually horrible apps destined for the maritime world. I could not find a simple app that would inform this islander when was the ideal time to walk on the beach.
One day I ran into Marline in the App Store. For my surprise, It turned out to be one of the apps I've been most happy with. The app informs me of the tides in a fast and visual way. Actually, when I saw that the developer was Spanish, I contacted him and suggested that the tide line (“Mar-Line”) rise and fall according to the tide to make it even more intuitive. I don't know if he listened to me or if he had already thought about it, but that's how it turned out.
The Moon
marline will show us the moon phase. Of course, as with the tides, it is possible that my idea of "who may be interested in this" is the same as that of a good man from Castile who is fond of astronomy about "who may be interested in the tide". So if you are interested, Marline will show it to you in a visual way, like no other. The game of colors and drawings of the Moon are very successful. The tones achieved seem like a movie.
Weather
For me, time has always been secondary, I think that services and apps have the same chance of guessing whether it is going to rain or not, than what I can predict by looking out the window. Even so, there are many who live looking at a weather app and Marline seems meant to stare at her all day.
If we slide down from the Moon, we will subtly change hues to find a visual and written information of the current time. Direct, simple and aesthetic. Of course, it is not designed for those who want to see when it will rain (if they are correct), although we can move through the hours and days for more information.
The tides
For me the most important section. As simple as a horizon line that tells you the state of the tide and an arrow that tells you if it rises or falls. I don't need more, but also, if you want to know more, you can check the high tide, the low tide and the wind.
The app is full of well-kept details and colors that hypnotize. To be able to slide the Sun or the Moon as a "time travel”, For example, or the icon's 3D touch shortcuts. Marline also has the time for the next seven days and a small menu to choose the location and another for the configuration.
The app, without any kind of insistence (something I appreciate) allows you to configure notifications of rain, snow, tides and the Sun, as well as warnings of astronomical events. Although I am not, as I said, fond of knowing the weather, these warnings, to my surprise, I have them activated.
Marline costs, as the only payment, 2,29 € and can be used by the whole family with In family. The app has been on the App Store for two years now, but it is kept up-to-date. It is already compatible with the iPhone X screen, in which it brings out all its splendor.
