In another step towards full integration of video formats, Facebook has launched a new version of its Messenger application. This update adds the feature of being able to broadcast live video in any window of any conversation, through a new button introduced for it. When used, Facebook users can start streaming live video through a small pop-up window, with sound disabled by default. In addition, it allows you to continue writing in the conversation at the same time as the video is displayed. It aims to enrich the conversation by adding video elements that complete the information and the way the user communicates.
This new possibility offered by Facebook Messenger is called Instant Video (Instant Video) and according to the developers it represents a further step in the audiovisual content that all messaging applications are already offering. More than an experience similar to video conferencing, the new Messenger feature is intended to be a complement to manual text input, which complements and enriches communication.
To start using the new Instant Video, there will be a new icon in the upper right corner of every Messenger conversation. When doing so, a live video window will appear in the application in which we can use both the front camera of the device and the rear. On the other side of the conversation, our contact will continue to see the video, the text conversation window and can enable the audio if they wish. You can also reply via video or audio, if you wish.
Facebook sees this update as a way to solve problems that its users were facing. For the last few weeks, the social network had been testing videos that played alone and with sound in the iOS application and began to carry out a small implementation of MSQRD among its services.
