Another year and Gameloft surprises us again with a new installment of Modern Combat, this time to leave us with our mouths open when we introduce ourselves to what we title as the best FPS on the App Store.
Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour it continues to be a game with an interesting single player campaign that follows the premise of the previous versions. Despite not providing any novelty in terms of gameplay, this title will try to hook us with its plot in which terrorists have launched simultaneous attacks all over the world.
The modern warfare title will allow us embody the role of different protagonists to live the story from various perspectives but make no mistake, this is just an excuse to take up our gun and shoot all those who stand in our way until completing the mission.
From a gameplay point of view, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour improves on everything seen to date. There are four levels of difficulty and a total of 12 missions spread over different locations around the world. Sometimes there will be cinematic scenes that will give us a break as a player and allow us to enjoy its graphics that are not far from what some of the consoles on the market are capable of offering us.
As we advance in the campaign mode, we will win coins that we can spend on updates, improvements or add-ons. It is important to manage our play money well to gain the power of destruction.
Controls have also been improved and the automatic pointing system or gyro control is now more precise than ever. The virtual sticks and buttons respond appropriately and we can also move them or vary their size as we please.
Another of the great improvements that can be seen from the first minute of play is its visual section. We have already mentioned that it is at the height of the current consoles but we must highlight the evolutionary leap that Gameloft has made in this field. The culprit is the Havok graphics engine that has been used by the developer for the first time. The textures are very well achieved as well as the effects of particles and explosions, all without affecting the rate of frames per second.
Visual quality of Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour may vary depending on the device in which we run it. The experience achieved in the iPhone 5 is not the same as in a third generation iPad in which there are certain cuts so that the GPU is able to move the Retina Display of the tablet with ease.
It is clear that the formula of good graphics combined with a single player campaign works very well, but if you want more, Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour offers you the possibility to make the leap to multiplayer mode.

The multiplayer will allow you to enjoy Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour for weeks or months after completing the single player mode. There are varieties for all tastes, from the Deathmatch to face everyone against everyone to the classic Capture the Flag for those who want a more strategic game. The maps are very generous in size and very well detailed, something that will be appreciated by up to 12 players who can participate in a game at the same time.
As you rank up, you will have more control over your character and his weaponry. You can spend credits on more weapons or upgrade the ones you already have. There are a total of four specialization classes for you to choose the one that best suits your way of playing and that allows you to obtain more experience points.
Modern Combat 4: Zero Hour is another FPS that cannot be missing from our library of games for iPhone and iPad. Its novelties are well worth the outlay that must be made to enjoy this title that we could also call Gameloft's Call of Duty.
