Modern Combat 5, our first impressions.

Modern-Combat-5-05

One of the most anticipated games of the year is now available on the App Store. As announced by Gameloft, Modern Combat 5 can now be downloaded from the App Store and provides everything that its previous deliveries had, with improved graphics, no in-app purchases and a gameplay that still leaves much to be desired, to which we must add that a permanent data connection is necessary to be able to play. We have already tried it and we tell you our impressions.

Modern-Combat-5-03

That we are facing an authentic game is undeniable. Modern Combat 5: Blackout for iPhone and iPad is a little wonder in our hands. The graphics are spectacular, the performance of it on my iPhone 5 is extraordinary, with no slowdowns or unexpected shutdowns, and the story is well crafted for a game of this type. There are several game modes, the classic story mode in which you follow the storyline of the game, an online multiplayer mode to test yourself with your friends or with rivals from all over the world or the Events mode with individual or squad missions. There are also four different characters to choose from that you can improve as you get experience points and achievements, improving their abilities and weapons. So far everything is perfect and very promising, and the reality is that it is like that, but we find ourselves with the usual flaws.

Modern-Combat-5-04

How could it be otherwise, the gameplay is greatly diminished by the character's control mode. You need to have played a lot of this type of game to be able to control the character well, move him while you point and shoot, change weapons, reload ... the tasks accumulate for two thumbs. Incomprehensibly it is not compatible with MFI drivers, although having seen what I have seen, I think there would not have been much difference either.

Modern-Combat-5-01

There is another negative point that does not improve with training: the internet connection. Do you have a WiFi iPad? Well, forget about playing Modern Combat 5 without being connected to a network. The internet connection must be permanent to be able to enjoy the video game. And it is not that without internet it will be diminished, it is that you will not be able to play directly. Also, depending on the connection you have at the time, the waits are sometimes too long.

Modern-Combat-5-02

A shame because these two defects, especially the latter, make a game worthy of the highest score considering that we are not talking about next-generation game consoles, it stays with a lower score, and thanks to the fact that the one that lacks purchases built-in helps to upload it. Indeed, Modern Combat 5: Blackout has no in-app purchases, you pay once and enjoy the game in full, which is appreciated. Of course, we are facing a game of € 5,99.

Ultimately, quite a bittersweet taste the one that leaves this new installment of Gameloft. Some of these bugs may be corrected in future updates. In any case, if you are a fan of FPS and played the previous Modern Combat, this new installment will not disappoint you, you have to be fair despite the negative points.

A bit rough in my opinion, it leaves much to be desired in its multiplayer section such as the sounds you heard when you died, your use of shields and all that.

Well, what do you want Luis to tell you, yes, the graphics are spectacular as in the previous installments but if the gameplay is the most important thing in any game (more if we talk about games for touch devices) and above in this last installment you have to be permanently connected (something very criticized in the appstore), an 8 out of 10 seems too high a note to me.

With a 6 it goes that kicks and it goes that kicks because the subject of the playability has accompanied this game since its inception, that is to say, this neglect must be punished with force. I bought the previous version and I will have played at most 10 times precisely for this reason, and if "only" it was this (I repeat that it is the most important thing in any game) maybe I would give it a 7. But if this new version You add on top of the permanent connection, the note drops to a 6 directly and I don't lower it any more because of the spectacular graphics it has.

Not everything in a game is spectacular graphics, far from it. This is as if you have a Ferrari with the engine of a Seat Panda; yes, on the outside beautiful and wonderful but on the inside ...

You may be right ... but the truth is that I really like this type of game (I'm an unconditional fan of Call of Duty), and as I say, the controls with a lot of practice you end up with them.

I was doubting a lot between a 6 and an 8 (I can't put a 7), but 6 seemed too much of a punishment for a spectacular game like this, worthy of a 10 if they corrected the issue of controls and the internet.

I really like these games a lot. But I really expected more from the game. The graphics are very similar to the 4th but there is not much news regarding the game. The 4th version had many gameplay novelties that left the player surprised. And it must be said that what they have done with you having to be connected to the internet is nonsense, still on my ipad mini I have not been able to play even once without the connection dropping and having to wait for it to reconnect. I have not played the game yet but so far I have not seen anything that the 4th version has to envy. I would rate it as a 7 or 8. For me version 4 still takes a lot.
