A few days ago we informed you about a promising tweak for Cydia, CarPlay Activator, that we would allow us to use this new Apple system on our iPhone or iPad without the need to change vehicles (unless we plan to do so in a few months) and without having to change the original radio of our vehicle for one of those compatible with CarPlay currently on the market by the firm Pioneer .
The operation of the application, which will not take long to reach Cydia according to the developer, is very similar to the system that the vehicles that adopt it and the Pioneer system will integrate. To run the application we will only have to click on the corresponding Tweak icon and automatically The application will open with the same options that the device brings from the factory.
When we launch the application, the screen will go to landscape mode showing the CarPlay interface, on a black background and with the icons of the currently compatible applications resized. The applications that will be displayed by default will be Apple Maps, the Messages application, Now Playing and Podcast. If we have the Spotify application, Rdio and Overcast will also be shown in the interface to be able to interact with these applications from our adapted CarPlay. As the applications of the App Store are adapted to CarPlay these will be available through this Tweak.
On the left of the screen, the time, the level of coverage along with type (3G or 4G / LTE) will be shown along with the Home button with which we can access the main menu of the application in addition to calling Siri to kick us out. a hand if we are lost.
When responding to the messages we receive, we will not have any type of keyboard, but we will have to use Siri. On the other hand, to enter addresses we will have the option of doing it through a keyboard or through vocal commands with Siri.
From what I have been able to see in the video, I think that you won't have to spend 700 euros to add a Pioneer compatible to be able to enjoy this technology or have to wait to change a car for when our favorite brand brings this technology integrated into them to the market.
