Multitask and close apps using gestures for iPhone 8

A few days after we supposedly see the new iPhone 8, new rumors appear about some aspects of software that could be exclusive to the new Apple terminal. Because its front will be almost entirely screen and there will be no physical button to close applications or launch multitasking, Apple could have included in iOS 11 some features that users have been demanding for years: gestures to launch multitasking or close applications.

According to Bloomberg, they have obtained reliable information from people very close to the development of the iPhone 8 and they assure them that the new iPhone 8 will replace the functions of the home button with multi-touch gestures. One gesture to open multitasking, another to close applications. They also tell us about how Apple is going to design the new status bar that will be split by the front sensors. We give you all the details below.

At the bottom of the screen there is a small bar that can be dragged to the middle of the screen to unlock the phone. When an application is open, the same gesture opens multitasking, and if you continue to the top of the screen, the application closes and the home screen appears. Multitasking also has a new design that shows applications as separate cards instead of the stacked cards of the current interface.

According to what Bloomberg tells, the new multitasking of the iPhone 8 would be very similar to that of the iPad, although with the obvious difference in size that would make some elements hidden and you have to scroll the screen to see them, such as the control center. The gesture to display the latter is the same as the one we are describing in this article to launch multitasking, so it may be integrated into it, as on the iPad.

Blooomberg also tells us how Apple is going to design the status bar. The front sensors split the bar in two, so its design should be different on the iPhone 8. Contrary to what some had imagined, with the coverage bar and WiFi on the left and the battery on the right , the clock disappearing from the top bar, Apple seems to want to keep the time in the status bar and it would occupy the left part, while the coverage, WiFi and battery would stay on the right part. It also ensures that this status bar would change depending on the application that we have open. On Twitter Steve TS shows us how this new design could be.

No, if in the end they will force me to buy it with everything that is being known or rumored.

What an ugly screen thing with that top center island. They could have worked it out a little more

It seems like a backlog ... let me explain, until now what defined apple terminals was their design and ease of use. I understand the challenges that an edge to edge screen presents, but try yourself to perform the gesture to close an app, from the bottom to the top it is an uncomfortable movement compared to pressing a button like in the 5s (which is the one I have). Bearing in mind that the same movement is used for three different actions (1. control center + apps; 2. apps bar; 3. exit the app) I consider in the absence of really seeing what they present of an implementation at least questionable.

On the 12th we will get out of doubts I suppose, but the price and what we know (more or less) about software / hardware makes me opt for its younger brother the 7s, a price of which for the news that it will provide (processor + ip68 simply) is not too attractive.
