Macintosh software developer Sonoma Wire Works has released a new audio application called FourTrack for the iPhone and iPod touch.
Sonoma Wire Works is known for its RiffWorks Mac audio recording software, but the company also jumped into iPhone app development shortly after the development kit became available. The developer is targeting singers, guitarists, pianists and other musicians who want to capture musical ideas and record the songs with their iPhone. You can use the built-in microphone of the iPhone or connect an external microphone. As the name suggests, the application has four tracks that are recorded at a resolution of 16 bit and 44,1 kHz, being able to be these of unlimited duration or until the iPhone storage capacity. The interface displays indicators for the recording and playback levels,any of saturation during recording, cPan controls and level controls for each of the tracks.
FourTrack also includes a Compressor and a Limiter, latency compensation ysWi-Fi incronization so that recordings can be exported from iPhone or iPod.
Doug Wright, President of Sonoma Wire Works has also indicated that future versions of FourTrack will include integration with his RiffWorks software for Mac. According to Wright, development for the integration is underway. According to Wright, “The opportunities are endless.
