My Movistar, a good example of how to anger customers

Telefónica

Unfortunately, it is increasingly common for companies with a lot of money launch apps that leave their own customers very unhappy, and this time the one that has not done things too well has been Movistar. The one that has been the operator of the iPhone par excellence in Spain of course has an Apple mobile app, but the level that this app gives is obviously not what it should.

La app

From the app Movistar clients They can access various data of interest such as the consumption of both voice calls (including if they have contracted bonds) and mobile data, as well as invoices, billing data or the rate that we have chosen. Basically it allows us to access everything that is needed to manage our relationship with the operator.

The design of the application is at least correct and does not completely clash with iOS 7, although it has elements that could be much more adapted to the new aspect of the Apple operating system. It also has Google Maps integration to see the closest stores, being able to see them also in a very useful list mode.

The problem

On paper everything is fine, but there are several problems. The main one is that the application has a null test, since it cannot be explained in another way that it does not open on a multitude of iPhones. You just have to look at the immense amount of reviews on the App Store complaining about this fact, so far from being an isolated problem, it is rather general.

If you are lucky that application It is opened on your iPhone then it has to coincide that you do not login with a company CIF (with NIF enter), and it is that in the last update and incomprehensibly there is a validation by which if our line is associated with a CIF. Other problems mentioned by users are that the consumed megabytes cannot be seen correctly, that they have eliminated the disconnect button from the account and some other minor problems.

Obviously we all have bugs, but launching an update of an application is an act of an important responsibility when you are the largest operator in the country, so at least a phase of intensive test (even if outsourced) is vital before launching the update without going back. Hopefully they will at least take a short time to correct these errors, as the number of frustrated customers is really important.

It works perfectly for me on an iPhone 4s and on iPhone 5, it tells me the consumption of calls and data consumption, it alerts me of all the alerts that I have configured and it has always been opened without problems.

I have it on two iPhone 5s and it is luxurious, I look at the consumption of 3G and it marks for example 250mb if I am listening to music online I look at the next hour and it marks for example 250mb, it goes very well. I don't know the problems people will have.

I am a client of movistar, and every time I look at the app for calling it in some way, I have the impression that they are teasing me, it is a real shame on the part of movistar

Well, it works well for me. There are services such as consulting your paper bill, which are not activated yet, but it tells me what I have contracted, the megabytes I have consumed, the possibility of taking advantage of other plans and redeeming points. The login is automatic if you connect via 3G or 4G, that is, without WIFI. If you access with Wi-Fi connected, you must enter your data. Much more comfortable to do it with the data network. Anyway, opinions for everything! Greetings!

Well, it seems to me a somewhat exaggerated analysis. It goes well for me for what I demand. They already say in the market that it is not for companies

Although in my case (on iPhone 5) the application works for me, I have to say that:

    A. Personally, the design does not convince me. It seems to me very mail (although it is a very subjective opinion since for tastes, the colors).

    B. The option to consult the invoice is there, but it does not contribute anything as it redirects to the web portal; a portal that was never intended for mobile devices (although it works, it is not comfortable to handle because it is intended for a PC screen resolution). For that, do not put the option and remove the update when the mobile web part is available (I think it is more elegant).

    C. The application is not as stable as one would like, it sometimes fails to disconnect and does not display data or the application closes.
