Little by little we continue to discover new features in iOS 8 that have not been announced by Apple and that we find when navigating our day-to-day life on the iPhone. We have located the last one in the native Mail application. The company informed us, during last Monday's keynote, of the new gestures that will allow us to manage emails more quickly (mark them as read, unread, delete them, change them from folder, forward, etc.); but the native app of Mail in iOS 8 hides other aesthetic and "smart" improvements.
We will start by highlighting the design news. Now, when we want to reply or forward an email from the same application, a new window will appear that will leave, in the background, the email we were reading. In iOS 7, Apple switches from one window to another. Is this change really useful? At first glance it seems that everything responds to a question of aesthetics, but it does help us to know that we are replying or forwarding an email (it would be perfect if Apple allowed us to switch from one window to another quickly with a touch gesture. this is a hint to more effective multitasking which could appear in future beta versions).
And now we turn to the "intelligence" section. The native Mail application in iOS 8 is able to identify the addresses and phone numbers that any contact has sent us. In this way we can insert it into your file quickly, without having to copy and paste leaving the mail application, as shown in the image.
Finally, you can see in the image that heads the article the bell icon that appears next to the "Subject" field. This tool allows us to receive special notifications when a member of a group email responds.
An important improvement would be to be able to schedule emails to be able to send them later, another day, etc. Like Boomerang, which does not exist for OS.
The new window displayed on the mail app is not just an aesthetic issue! It is precisely for what you are saying, if you are answering an email and you forgot something that they asked you in that email or you want to look for an information about an email that you have in some other mailbox, you can do it by "dragging" the window that you were writing the email and in this way to be able to see what you had asked or what you had forgotten. To my taste it is a very good improvement!
