The new 3D maps of Google Maps destroy Manhattan

GoogleMaps3d.1

Almost a year after Apple launched its maps for iOS, Google has announced with great fanfare its new 3D maps integrated into Google Maps. It's been a year in the Maps, the iOS 6 app has come under countless criticism for its inaccuracy, for destroying roads, bridges, and buildings. But first impressions of the new Google Maps app aren't much different from what happened to Apple.. And the images that we are going to show you in this article are from Manhattan, nothing more and nothing less.

As can be seen in the screenshots, the difference between the 3D image of Google Maps and iOS Maps is abysmal. Will criticism be as harsh with Google maps as with Apple? I honestly doubt it. When the Maps app was released last summer, I think I was one of the few who didn't think it was such a bad app. It is true that it had flaws, some important, inappropriate for a company like Apple that we are used to applications of much higher quality. But I think it was too exaggerated, they were even published fake news about the location of the Alhambra in Granada. It has been a year in which Apple has been improving its application a lot, increasing the available information and areas with 3D images. At the moment it is a high quality application, perhaps not yet comparable to Google Maps in some aspects, but superior in others. In fact, Google Maps for mobile devices does not have the possibility to "fly over" the maps in 3D, something that Maps does.

Google Maps currently only has the ability to fly over in 3D on the desktop version, and not on all browsers or on all computers. In fact, my Macbook does not allow me to use that view mode or using the latest version of Chrome. On mobile devices it is not yet active, and if it were, could only be used on 29% of mobile devices. Recall that Apple was also charged with the fact that the iPhone 4 and 3GS and the first generation iPad did not have that function available.

Judge for yourself the differences between the images that appear in the article. Each one draw their conclusions. What I can assure you is that you will not find this news in the newspapers or television news, not even in many specialized blogs. As I always say, Apple is Apple, for good and for bad.

Totally agree. The application does not seem so bad to me either. In fact, on a lucky occasion I had Apple maps, because neither Google Maps nor the TomTom app guided me properly.

Apple is like the smart guy in the class, that when he makes a mistake everyone laughs and humiliates him. (This phrase has been very Fanboy, but go, get the idea!: P)

I find it incredible that you look at the detail of manhattan. The app is still beta and it's the scariest thing I've seen on the internet in years. Impressive. As long as they polish some details, it's going to be epic.

For Google, which has been in the map business for years, we must give it some time to make its application really good, but Apple, which had just launched its first Maps application, we did not pass a single one. That detail that you say is precisely one of the things that was criticized the most by Apple in the launch of Maps. That is precisely what I mean, the differences between one and the other, when both applications should be treated the same. The most reasonable thing is to think like you, give them a little time to polish the application in new versions.
Anyway, if the 3D maps of Google Maps have surprised you, it is that you have not used Maps on iOS, especially on the iPad, because today, they are much superior in this function.

    The Google App is beta
The iOS App is the good one since they had the luxury of removing Google maps from the device

And I think it is very bad that the 4s is sold with Siri in English announcing it with great fanfare and Spanish does not arrive until the iPhone 5
Well, the same with the maps
Even after a year they are still bad

Google maps works very well, it doesn't need 3D

And what they have said is a beta version

Apple also said that Siri was Beta. If it is valid for Google, also for Apple, right?
