We are just over a month away from learning about the new iPhone 16 and as usual, Mark Gurman tells us what they will be the main features of the new Apple phones. As expected, there will be no major changes, although there will be interesting developments.
Since the iPhone 12 in 2020, Apple has not given a major design change to its smartphone. There have been small changes generation after generation that have varied small elements of the iPhone, so if we compare the 2020 phones with those of 2023 there are quite a few differences, but no radical changes. And that will continue to be the case this year with the new iPhone 16 range, which will be made up of four phones (iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max) that will be almost identical in design to their predecessors. What will be the main changes? Mark Gurman summarizes them for us:
- The main novelty will be Apple Intelligence, the Artificial Intelligence system that Apple announced at the last WWDC 2024 and that will also work on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. In the case of the iPhone 16, it will be included in the four models that are launched.
- The "non-Pro" models of the iPhone 16 will include the Action Button, which debuted exclusively on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max last year. With the improvements in the Control Center and its greater customization capacity added to the possibility of changing the shortcuts on the lock screen, the Action Button is becoming less and less relevant, but it never hurts.
- There will be a new button dedicated to the camera located to the right of the phone. It will probably be exclusive to the Pro models and will serve to control the iPhone camera in a similar way as we do with a conventional camera: press lightly to focus, harder to shoot. It will also allow you to control the zoom using swipe back and forth gestures.
- The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will have a small increase in screen size, going from 6.1 inches on the 15 Pro to 6.3 inches on the 16 Pro, and from 6,7 inches to 6,9 inches in the case of the Pro Max.
- There will be changes in the colors of the new iPhones, like every year. The Pro model will lose the blue color, and will recover the rose gold color a few years ago, a real bestseller.
- All models launched this year They will have 8 GB of RAM, the same one that the 15 Pro Max now have. It is the minimum amount required to use Apple Intelligence.
