LG 8K TV

Although the largest consumer technology fair that is held every year in Las Vegas, under the name of CES, has not yet officially started, many are the companies that are taking advantage of the previous days to announce what will be some of the novelties that will be launched throughout this year.

Last year, one of the most pleasant surprises for users of Apple products was the announcement of the AirPlay 2 compatibility with Samsung, LG, Sony and Vizio TVs, although depending on the manufacturer, this compatibility included older models.

The Korean firm LG has just officially announced its commitment to 2020 in the TV sector, where the market is practically shared with Samsung. This new range of televisions, ranging from 65 to 88 inches and reach a maximum resolution of 8K in the largest models.

All of these models are compatible with AirPlay 2 and HomeKit, like all LG models that the Korean company launched last year. Nevertheless, they don't have access to iTunes, nor to Apple TV +, so it is a great handicap that many users will be able to take into account when renewing their TV if they are users of Apple products.

LG's 2020 TV range allows us to play content natively up to 8k through the HDMI and USB inputs. They are compatible with HEVC, VP9 and AV1 codecs. Thanks to the third generation Alpha 9 processor, it is capable of playing content in 8k at 60 fps.

These new models They use NanoCell technology. The panels on these models are made up of thousands of nanoparticles that absorb "useless" light for greater color and contrast accuracy from any angle.

Samsung models, since 2018, are compatible not only with AirPlay 2 but also have access to the iTunes library as well as access to Apple's streaming video service called Apple TV +.
