WatchOS 6: News and Updates

WatchOS 6 news and updates

As of this Thursday 19 you can update your Apple Watch to the new version of watchOS 6. It incorporates the long-awaited "Always-on" function, but only compatible with the new series 5 LTPO displays. However, it has other important new functions for which it is worth updating your watch. Let's see them.

New arrivals

There is a pack of new spheres. If you didn't have enough screen modes for your Apple Watch, now you have a few more to choose from.

Siri enhanced. The guys from Cupertino are always working to make their voice assistant "more human" every time, and they take advantage of any update to their operating systems to add these improvements.

An own App Store. Independent of the iPhone, with all the exclusive apps for Apple Watch.

New applications, one for listening to audiobooks, another for calculating, and one for voice notes.  You no longer have to use third-party applications or depend on the iPhone to record a voice memo. Interesting.

Now you can send messages from the watch including Animoji stickers. Yet another way to personalize your chats.

The activity and health apps have also undergone improvements, with new guidelines in daily exercises, and now you can carry a control of the menstrual cycle.

Update: Who, How and When

Who can upgrade to WatchOS 6? Well all those users who have an Apple Watch from series 1 (for hardware reasons, the original Apple Watch is not supported) and an iPhone from 6S, and who have previously updated their mobile to iOS 13.

How? Simple, via OTA. Just take the precaution of having the battery with more than 50% of both the clock and the iPhone, you enter the watch application of the mobile, you enter in general, and if you meet the requirements of the first point it will appear.

When will it be available? From Thursday 19, between 17:00 p.m. and 19:00 p.m. The update will appear on your iPhone. An hour before if you are in the Canary Islands.

Keep in mind that you have to update your iPhone first (iPhone 6S onwards) to iOS 13, otherwise you will not be shown the possibility of updating your watch to WatchOS 6.

If I update the Apple Whatch with an Iphone 8, then could it be used in an Iphone 6 or would they not connect because they could not update the 6? .Thanks

The idea is good, but I'm sorry to tell you that it won't work for you. An Apple Watch with WatchOS 6 can only be paired with an iPhone with iOS 13. I have reviewed the conditions of the new series 5, which already incorporates WatchOS 6 from the factory, and Apple makes it very clear: Only compatible with iPhone 6S or later, and with iOS 13. Too bad.

Do not update those who do not have series 4 up.

There is lag when taking home by pressing the crown, Mickey and Minney speak, it is a bug like a big house.

Swapping Watchos for a calculator and another bullshit will spoil your watch.

Hello, it should be noted that Series 1 and 2 will not receive the update today.

    All the best

Pablo has said that they do not receive it at the moment, not that they are not compatible.
