Nuance Swype keyboard says goodbye

Swype keyboard

I remember seeing how Android users could type by sliding their finger on the screen. It was one of the few things that, over the years, have drawn me to Google's operating system. But, like many other things, it was a matter of time before those marvels, which gave me long teeth, reached iOS.

Along with the ability to create custom keyboards for iOS, several arrived that allowed this function of swipe to write. I don't remember if it was because it was not in the Spanish App Store, or if it was because of something else, but I ended up using SwiftKey (still available) instead of Swype.

One of the most striking advantages of Swype was its support for Dragon Dictation. Without a doubt one of the best dictation solutions on the market, also developed by Nuance.

However everything changed when Gboard arrived. The Google keyboard stomped in and many of us abandoned the keyboard we used, to such an extent that, to this day, it is my only keyboard. Apparently, the ease with which Gboard has attracted users, has caused Nuance to rethink its business.

We are sad to announce that Swype-Keyboard for iOS has been discontinued. Nuance will no longer offer the Swype keyboard on the iOS App Store. We regret leaving the consumer direct keyboard business, but this change is necessary to allow us to focus on developing our AI solutions, to sell directly to businesses.

The keyboard has simply stopped receiving updates and their social networks have been inactive for months. It was thanks to a user who shared a message from Nuance support on Reddit that the news came out.

For all of you who will use it, it's time to try another one like Gboard or SwiftKey. Y for those of you who don't use a swipe-to-type keyboard, give it a try. It is the ideal companion to my iPhone 7 Plus, allowing me to type comfortably with one hand.

I had it installed, if I missed the 3dtouch option, I started using it years ago, I'm going to test with the gboard that you don't have to give it full access and in what I tried it better predicted some words.
