One of the oldest podcast players on the App Store and a favorite of many users, it just got updated to aAdd support for home screen widgets, widgets that have taken almost a year to implement since they made their appearance in iOS 14, but better late than never.
Widgets are not the only novelty offered by the latest update of this application since they also offers us new functions for CarPlay, functions that are not related to any new functionality that Apple has introduced in recent months but without a doubt, they are to be appreciated.
After this update, Overcast allows us to choose between 3 widgets, widgets that we can use both on the home screen of our iPhone and our iPad:
- Small size that shows the most recent podcast we were listening to.
- Medium size that shows us the 3 most recent episodes that we have downloaded in the application.
- Large size that shows us information about the 4 downloaded episodes that we have not heard yet, along with their title and date.
In addition to the new widgets for the home screen, Overcast has also improved the number of functions it offers for all CarPlay users, among which we find a control of playback speed, access to chapters, access to the most recent episodes...
