Since the release of iOS 7, any user of an iPhone has an option available in the Phone app that allows us to block calls. It may seem like an unimportant function, but it has been quite good for me (I will not give more details). In iOS 10, the default application for making iOS calls will include several improvements that are just as interesting, or more, than the option to block unwanted calls.
The novelty that most attracted the attention of those that would come to the iOS 10 Phone app is a function that will warn when a call received may be SPAM. If I have to be honest, I am not very clear about how this system will work, but it can come in handy, as long as it is reliable, so as not to take those calls from telephone operators that all they do is waste our time. Here I have to say that this is my opinion and that, logically, I respect users who want to receive this type of calls to take advantage of any of their offers (I pass Olympic).
The iOS 10 Phone app will improve a lot
Another welcome novelty will be transcribe voicemail messages to text. This will be possible in iOS 10 and it is something that can come in handy, especially if we take into account that most of the messages that they leave us in the voicemail are usually so short that they could pass through an SMS.
But what I like most about the new application is part of the openness that Apple has provided to its applications: the iOS 10 Phone application gives us will allow calling by WhatsApp from it, so that whenever we want to make a phone call we can do it with the application that is designed for it and includes more functions. On the other hand, it is also possible that we can make video calls from the same Phone app. This is something that, although it was not mentioned in the WWDC16 keynote, makes sense, since we can also make FaceTime calls from the same application.
iOS 10 It is now available in beta for developers, while those who want to try the public beta will still have to wait until July, probably coinciding with beta 3. Its official launch is scheduled for autumn, which means that it will arrive with the iPhone 7 in September.
