PhoneExpander, an application to free up space on your iPhone (OS X)

Phone Expander

Free up space on iPhone It is one of the great concerns of many, especially if we have a 16 GB model. Each one has its tricks to always keep some free memory on the iPhone but with daily use, the applications accumulate cache and gradually get fat, until some become something monstrous that can even occupy several GB of space.

Getting rid of these caches is not always easy, which is why OS X users can enjoy a new application called Phone Expander that although it is still in beta phase, its operation is good and fulfills what it promises: recover those MB occupied by unnecessary things on our iOS device.

Phone Expander

After installing PhoneExpander, the application offers us four options to free up space on your iPhone or iPad. The first one corresponds to the elimination of temporary files used by applications. These temporary files are often used to reduce load times, minimize data consumption, etc .; however, we may prefer to have extra memory before enjoying the benefits of caches.

As always, when deleting content, take a good look at what you are going to eliminate and what are its consequences. In my case (you can see it in the screenshot), if I clear the Spotify cache then I will get 3,29 GB of extra space, however, I will run out of my offline playlists. If I delete the one from WhatsApp, I will lose all the photos of my conversations since I do not backup in the iOS 8 Photos application.

Be careful with this lest we delete things that interest us and then there is no way back.

Phone Expander

The rest of the PhoneExpander options go in a similar direction. For example, we can delete applications that we do not use. PhoneExpander will take us a list of all the ones we have installed on our iOS device and we can sort them by what they occupy, so we can dispense with the one that does not interest us.

The third option allows us manage photos and videos With a certain age, that is, before deleting it will make a backup copy of the affected files on our Mac.

Finally, there will be a fourth feature that is not yet available and that allows us free up space on iPhone or iPad deleting music.

As I have already mentioned, PhoneExpander for OS X is still in beta and right now it is free to download. When its final version is ready, it will be paid.

It is an application to manage the iPhone. When the jailbreak was only available for windows for weeks, should we have published it in ActualidadWindows? The title of the post makes it clear that this news is only intended for Mac users.
