A few weeks ago we talked about an application that Microsoft was testing in order to facilitate the task of users who, regularly or sporadically, were forced to transfer your photos to PC. While it is true that within the Mac ecosystem it is a very simple process, in Windows 10 and earlier versions the process is a bit more cumbersome.
To try to expedite this transfer, the Redmond-based company has just launched the Photos Companion application, an application with which we can quickly send photos from our iPhone or iPad to Windows 10 PC. This application works in conjunction with the Microsoft Photos application in Windows 10.
This new application has again left the Microsoft Project Garage, like many other applications, applications that have had different success in the market. In addition to installing the Photos Companion app on the iPhone or iPad and the Microsoft Photos app on the Windows 10 PC, both devices they must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Once we meet these three requirements, we open the Microsoft Photos application on the PC and open the application for iOS. At that time a QR code that we must show to the computer's camera. In the next step we must select all the photos and videos that we want to transmit and click on Done, so that the process begins.
I honestly think that it would have been more convenient for the QR code to be scanned with the smartphone and not with the laptop, but presumably the guys at Microsoft's Garage will have selected the other way for some specific reason. Once the images and videos have been transferred, we can edit it or create a fun video through the Microsoft Photos application, an application that is available for your download for free from the Microsoft Store.
The application is no longer available in the App Store
Fixed in case it happens to someone else:
activate the "Preview" option in the settings of the Photos application on the PC and that this is version 2018.18011.13110.0 or higher.
because the application does not appear in the app store
