Photos, videos, links and GIFs no longer discount characters in tweets

Twitter login

So far this year there have been many rumors that have been published related to the microblogging platform Twitter. The most recent made reference to the fact that Jack Dorsey's company, remember that he was one of the founders of Twitter, had the intention of finally remove the restriction on the number of characters that was supposed to include links, photos, videos or GIF files. Making use of these links or files meant that the number of characters in our tweet was automatically reduced by 24 characters, so we were forced to select the words of each tweet very well.

The microblogging company has just confirmed this news, so that from now on we will be able to include video files, photos, GIFs, surveys or links without fear that the number of characters will be reduced. The only thing that keeps subtracting characters is when we make a mention or reply to someone through a tweet. You cannot have everything in this life.

In the end, the rumors that appeared at the beginning of the year in which it was claimed that Twitter could remove the 140 character limitation not come true thankfully, since it would eliminate the essence of what Twitter is. Finally, Twitter has listened to its users and finally allows us to enrich the tweets without being affected by the reduction of characters, something that did not make sense and that was counterproductive for the social network.

Twitter wants to continue attracting the interest of more followers and to be able to leave the figure of 300 million users, figure in which they have been pigeonholed for a couple of years. Important new functions have been added throughout this year, many of them copied by Facebook, functions that should attract the interest of users who still see Twitter as a communication platform rather than a social network. The end of this limitation will gradually come to all countries.
