Problems in the first wave of iPhone 5 cases

Damaged iPhone 5 case

It seems that some users are reporting some problems with the iPhone 5 screens, something normal if we take into account that there is always a small percentage of defective devices. However, in different forums a problem is being read that affects many users and according to which, the iPhone 5 case may be damaged.

This is especially appreciated in the black model, which features structural damage, loss of color in the anodizing, scratches, teeth or even major bumps in some of the newly released terminals. In the case of the white model there are also problems but they are much more difficult to appreciate since the original color of the aluminum is preserved.

Of course, many customers have already returned their phones despite the stock shortage after selling five million units. What is clear is that Apple has screwed up to the bottom by boasting an exceptional quality process that has made the final price of the product more expensive but that, as we can see in the first batch of the iPhone 5, is proving just the opposite.

We suppose that many of the users who have made a long queue to buy their iPhone 5 will not have been happy to see that their terminal, still unused, has cosmetic defects.

Apple's thing with the iPhone 5 is nonsense, a real disaster. Defective screens, housings in poor condition and presumably poor quality ...... what's next?
By the way, does anyone know if it at least serves as a mobile? 😜
I'll keep my 4 (a jewel), I'll buy the Gakaxy Note 2 (a machine) and we'll see if I go back to Apple with the iPhone 6.

They are not of poor quality but the control during assembly has been totally overlooked. The number of terminals that are getting scratched or without paint from the case is not normal.

Aluminum has advantages and disadvantages. The iPhone 4 / 4S was sinfully fragile but was not easily scratched. The iPhone 5 is very resistant to falls but not as resistant to erosion that could arise from daily use.

As you say, a real disaster and even more so seeing what the terminal costs. Hopefully from October everything will be solved. In the meantime, I advise not to buy it on the 28th, and if it is bought, do it in an Apple Store that there will not be a problem for an instant change.

Defensive and whatever you want but it doesn't compare to the cheap plastic of the galaxy

What I have clear is that on Friday the 28th I will buy it at the Apple Store, as Nacho says, I will open it right there and look at it with a magnifying glass, and although it seems and makes a fool of myself, I will do it literally, WITH A MAGNIFIER.

    1.    Nacho said

Relax, you will not make a fool of yourself because at least in the United States, they must already be tired of replacing iPhone 5 with defects. It is logical that seeing what is happening, if you buy it you make sure it is okay.

If you take the black model, pay attention to the color of the side frame, especially at the intersections between antennas. Greetings!

Nor do you think I just bought an iPhone 5 in the US and it came to me with a slight bump on the aluminum part

I do have it clear, after seeing the iDecepción 5, I will not buy an iPhone again until Apple gets the batteries. Look, I have everything in the world Apple, iPad, iPhone, iPod, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, Apple TV… everything! but I think that this iPhone 5 has already been the last straw for me to decide to change the terminal once and for all and that it is not an iPhone. It strikes me as a joke, a repetitive design, and the interior is nothing to write home about, either. So people who buy an iPhone 5 hope you enjoy it, I'm not going to fall this time.

It is exactly what happens to me. I also do not see that the change is significant enough to buy it. I understand that the one that comes from the 3G / 3GS if it makes a big leap, but having the 4 and needless to say it has the 4S, I don't think it's worth it.
Apple has wanted to stand out from the competition by lengthening the screen and the phone and the truth is that that has not convinced me from minute 1. We will have to wait 2 years to see if it really surprises us, and I say 2 because we all know that in a year what they will present will be the 5S, exactly the same but with slightly superior hardware. I think that 4 years with the same design has to take their toll.

      1.    Jau said

Who has an iPhone 4 or 4S the change is unnecessary. I hope that it will take a toll on them for the repetitive design, although being realistic it will be a super sales, on the Apple website they say NEW DESIGN, yes of course, come on, an innovative design to the limit. I am really disappointed and I will not buy it. I will go to other terminals even if I have to have Android, but if Apple does not put the batteries, bad go! I understand the fanaticism of some people here, but I have all Apple products and know how to stand in line when I see that Apple has not done its homework well. Oh and regarding the comment of Granaino_oa, yes, an amazing change, let's go that it has almost the same as the new iPad, what a change, the camera improves (I do not know what this is for me, if I have a Reflex) 3 microphones, no comments , NFC unusable, and iOS 6 is to shoot rockets, it does not include any improvement that was not already had in iOS5, oh and maps is better not to mention ... and on top of that they put things on us so that they cannot be used on iPhone 4 or 4S ( Thank goodness we have jailbreack). Is it time to try new things? The answer is yes ! Let's face it, the design of the prototypes were much better than that of the iPhone 5, and its hardware and news are not enough to pay € 650.

Silly stuff…. What is a significant change for you? Integrate things that are not practical today such as NFC or wireless charging?

      - The NFC except for Japan in the rest of the world has no practical use yet.- Wireless charging has more limitations than conventional charging… .Why do I want the device to charge by putting it on a base if I can't use it while load?…. You have to place the device on a surface and not detach it from it to charge…. It is the same as if you put it on a dry dock, period. In terms of power, it is twice as powerful in all respects as the 4S (the 4S was already twice as powerful as the iPhone 4)…. and in fact it performs better in general than the same Galaxy S3 ... so I do not see the complaint in that regard.

The results of the cameras improve…. 3 microphones are added, noise cancellers are improved and the loudspeaker is improved…. screen saturation is improved, making it one of the best, except for the Nokia 920 that has not yet come out.
      ------

If the design is very similar, but removing that, it is what you would expect from a new iPhone…. Apple has never put things that it knows are not practical… .that is why although they have patents on NFC since almost the first iPhone came out, no iPhone has yet integrated NFC….

Everyone can say what they want obviously, but I think that the disappointment of many is due to the fact that they always expect things that are "very nice to do marketing" but that in practice would be absurd.

Apple plans to use liquid metal, hydrogen batteries, NFC, 3D screens and a thousand other things that have patents ... but obviously they will put it when possible and useful ... Liquid metal in 1 or 2 more generations is gone Let's see and the NFC the same as soon as it begins to be implemented and begins to have real profits.

It has been a long time since I read an article with as little rigor as this one. «It seems that some users», «Many Clients», «different forums»…. Cite the sources of information, write some conclusive data, link some news in the press, if Apple has screwed up to the bottom it will have been published in many media. Excuse me, what an article garbage you have published. Let's see if we try a little more that it is not necessary to write Apple to write ... Greetings

    1.    Nacho said

You have the source from the beginning, you just have to look for it. Do you want me to list all the forums in which I have seen this problem or with the more than 100 pages that there are in MacRumors?

Press release? Apple has not acknowledged the failure and will not. Simply in October you will improve your quality control, which is more profitable than having delayed the launch of the iPhone for a month. Anyway, let's see if we try harder to write comments and don't criticize for criticizing

PS: now I understand why everything that surrounds Apple and its iPhone is made up. If we are not critical of a product that is worth more than 600 euros and that has flaws (you want to see it or not), Apple will always remain on the crest of the wave laughing at users who buy everything.

    2.    Nacho said

You have the source in the article, what's more, you have more than 100 pages of users who suffer from this problem and even a survey.

Let's see if we read a little more before criticizing for criticizing.

It seems to me that as always, with Apple everything is exaggerated, for better and for worse.
Here it is being said that if the quality controls are bad, that if there are many defective iPhone 5s, that is a shame ...
And I ask: how many iphone 5 have been defective? Because I remember that 5 million have been sold ... What percentage comes from manufacturing defects? Is it greater than another company, less than or equal?
And of course, if there is a Nokia or Samsung mobile with bugs, no one publishes it on the internet, it is not given this hype ...

I have bought the iPhone 5 in London and I have to say that it is amazing, of course there are some defective units, like all electronic products, but of course, being Apple it is magnified much more.
It is an incredible mobile, with a processor that is scary and the screen fits perfectly in the hand. The camera is simply unbeatable.
I have no regrets at all, totally advisable

I was thinking of getting it, since I have an iPhone 4 and I wanted to sell it and renew it, but I am not going to do it.

As you will understand, I am not going to spend 700 euros on a mobile that has the paint peeling after a few days of use. And I'm not worth the fact that 5 million have been sold and some have to turn out bad (something understandable). It's happening to almost everyone, and the black paint from the rubbing is chipping off and exposing the silver aluminum.

    1.    Ruben said

"Almost everyone"? Where do you get that statement? What data do you have? The blogs that have the same news, talking about the same faulty iPhone 8?
"Almost all" would have to be about 3 or 4 million iPhones. So consider not buying it.
This news without numerical data is pure scaremongering that seems created by the competition ...

I have an iPhone 4 and it has already been for 2 years with me, I plan to go for an iPhone 5 but when I saw the keynote and they said that it was made of aluminum, you could see the glimpse that this would happen.
I honestly prefer to switch to an iPhone 4S for a battery performance issue and that the model in question together with the iOS6 offers practically the same functions as the iPhone 5.

Not only the screen and the scratches, all the applications when opened present two black stripes above and below the screen and I ask why a 4-inch screen if the applications fill 3,5 inches of screen? squaring these Apple. I am sorry to buy an Iphone 5, I will try to sell it and buy a Samsung cheats less and gives more freedom.

Yes, it is true that I was a bit disappointed in terms of performance but otherwise everything perfect
