How to record videos with the iPhone screen off and without jailbreak

Many of us are users who use our devices daily to record videos or capture a moment through a photograph. The quality of the camera of our iPhone also encourages us to do so. The problem, as usual, especially if we use our iPhone to record videos is the battery consumption when the screen is turned on during recording, something logical especially if we want to record a short video and we do not want to miss any detail. But surely on more than one occasion you have left the iPhone in a position to record absolutely everything that passes on the screen. For these cases it is best to do it with the screen off to save battery.

In those cases, the best we can do to save battery is to record with the device's screen off using a small bug which works on all versions of iOS 9, at least on all iOS 9.x devices where I have tested it. This option is ideal now that the children's festivals are approaching at school and all parents want to record the entire performance so as not to miss any moment in which our child is the protagonist.

How to record videos from iPhone with screen off

  • From the lock screen, click on the camera icon and slide your finger to the middle of the screen.
  • Then, without releasing your finger, select the video option and click on the red button to start the recording.
  • Now we must perform three double taps on the start button and wait for the iPhone screen to turn off automatically, just as it would if we had pressed the start button just to see the time.
  • Right now the iPhone is recording everything in front of the camera until we press the start button again.
