Review of Apple's Official Remote Loop

When we go to buy an Apple TV 4, Apple offers us several accessories that might interest us: an iTunes gift card, the remote SteelSeries Nimbus and a strap for the Siri Remote, Remote loop. What can be said about a strap of this type? Well, many things can be said, although not too good at the moment. I write this review so that users know what you would buy if you decided to pay the 15 € that Apple asks for the official strap in order to decide if you are interested or prefer to wait for third-party straps to arrive, straps that will surely arrive for a lower price.

Remote Loop made of leather

The strap is made of fine leather, which doesn't give a lot of confidence, let's face it. The first impression is that it will soon crack and end up breaking, but it could be a wrong impression that we can only confirm with use. Apple has wanted to offer us a product with a certain finesse and that is something that it has achieved in the beginning, but I am very afraid that the black color will soon fade and the image will be damaged. Anyway, the most important thing is that you hold out, especially in future games, such as a game of baseball or tennis.

Security System

It is clear that if we buy a strap it is to protect the Siri Remote against falls. The Remote Loop connects to the Siri Remote through the Lightning port on the bottom of the controller. That was something we already knew, but what we did not know is that it has two teeth on the sides of the connector that, once inside, prevent it from coming out again. If we attach these teeth to a strap around our wrist, we can be sure that we will not throw the controller against the floor / wall if we get excited playing tennis, for example. As you can see in the following image, on the sides it has two buttons that serve to collect the teeth and to remove the Remote Loop to charge the Siri Remote.

If you are wondering if it works for an iPhone, the answer is no. At the moment, it is only compatible with the Siri Remote, but it is not ruled out that it will be with the iPhone of the future.

Worth?

I'm not sure, really, but it is something to consider. If you're already playing Beat Sports, for example, it might be worth it. Keep in mind that the Siri Remote is priced at € 89, So, in comparison, € 15 is nothing. On the other hand, if you are careful with him and you are not playing any game that could cause the controller to get fired, I think it is best to wait a while. There will soon be third-party straps of all kinds and they are most likely priced much lower, so we could buy two straps for the same price we can buy a Remote Loop for. If you asked me to simply say yes or no, I would say no right now. I think the only important thing about the Remote Loop is the teeth and it doesn't take much precision to reproduce them on other belts. You might change your mind in the future, as long as you don't see others for half the price.

I thought it was to play games with the remote, like Wii xD it would be a plus to use the Apple TV in the Wii style to play games on the big TV!

Hi Shawn_Gc. That is one of its purposes. The controller has an accelorometer and gyroscope and can be used as a racket in some games. It's just a matter of time.

      A greeting.
