Sales and interest in AirPods keep growing

Apple AirPods

I remember the presentation of the AirPods with the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. After the elimination of the jack port, they were the ideal complement for the iPhone of that year.

I liked them at the time, although, being very basic, I would tell myself that € 179 "to remove the cable from my EarPods" was too much. I ended up buying them and if I lost them today I would run to Apple to buy new ones (if they have stock).

This love for AirPods is not just mine. According to Above Avalon, AirPods attract everyone's interest, and from 2017 to 2018 their Google searches have grown 500%. Coming from 2016 to 2017 in which they grew 100%. As they say, it's a viral growth in interest in AirPods.

This represents an impressive and unstoppable interest for a product that has been on the market for more than two years. And this has been noticed in sales. There are already more than 25 million AirPods sold and it is expected that they will reach 50 million in this 2019.

This makes the AirPods the second best-selling product by units after two years of its departure, only surpassed by the iPad. (Here, it must be made clear that the iPhone, in its early years -especially the first-, was not sold worldwide as it did the iPad, the AirPods or the Apple Watch).

These figures are impressive for any product, but even more so for a product that has been on sale for more than two years, which has suffered countless shortages of stock and of which Its renewal has been rumored from that wireless charging box presented in the Keynote of the iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X back in September 2017 -almost a year and a half-.

Despite this, their sales continue to grow exponentially and, honestly, It is one of the products that I have liked the most about Apple -in general-.
