Samsung delays the launch of its smart speaker to compete with the HomePod

During the presentation of the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + last Sunday, we could see how the Korean company focused part of the presentation on the connected houseIt didn't feature any smart devices as we would have liked, though, with the company's Bixby-managed smart speaker being the main draw.

Given that the Snapdragon 845 allows multi-room playback via bluetooth, without having to resort to new or already registered technologies such as AirPlay, the smart speaker that Samsung is working on and that will be managed by Bixby is one of the products that users expect the most.

According to the head of Samsung's mobile division, DJ Koh, the scheduled date for the launch of the Korean firm's smart speaker is initially scheduled for the second half of 2018, probably before the end of the year, although he may go ahead and present himself hand in hand with the Galaxy Note 9, an event that if it follows the trend of previous years, should be presented at the end of August of this year.

DJ Koh has stated in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that is working on the development of the smart speaker, of which we had the first news at the end of December. This delay allows Apple to settle HomePod sales on the market before the Korean company launches its first speaker.

Given that Samsung is the current owner of Harman International, conglomerate under which are companies AKG, JBL, Bang Olufsen, Harman Kardon, Infinity among other large ones, if the company does it well, it can launch a device on the market that can be a reference in terms of what we know so far in connected speakers. For now we will have to wait for the rumors to begin to do their job to see what Samsung can offer us in this field.

Of course, it is to be expected that until it reaches the market, the assistant of the Korean company, Bixby has expanded the number of languages it speaks. According to some rumors, the next language he will speak will be Spanish, currently being English and Korean the languages that he dominates.
