The iPad is becoming increasingly useful on our desktop thanks to the new features that Apple includes in iPadOS, and for this a good support like this one from Satechi is essential that combines design and functionality.
The iPad, in my case the iPad Pro, has become my perfect device for mobility, but little by little it is also gaining space when I am at my home desk, both to consume multimedia content and to help me in my work with the computer . And for that it is much better to use a specific stand that elevates it and allows you to customize the tilt angle more than the Magic Keyboard does. All this and much more is what you can do with this aluminum stand from Satechi.
Made entirely of aluminum, the feel out of the box couldn't be better. Cold, solid, heavy touch ... its build quality is very high, and it is full of small details that reflect that many things have been taken into account when designing it. The first thing that stands out is its but, quite high (practically half a kilogram), at the expense of the base. This weight contributes to the stability of the stand, which allows you to position the iPhone in any desired position without moving a single millimeter.. The two hinges of the stand allow you to raise or lower the set, and adjust the angle of inclination of the iPad, offering an almost complete range of movement: a raised position to view multimedia content, or practically at desk level to be able to write with Apple Pencil.
I spoke before about details that improve support. First we find several areas that are covered with a soft silicone to protect the surface of our iPad when we place it on the support. It is also covered with this material at its base, to protect the surface where we place it, and to fix it so that it does not slide on it. And we also have two holes through which we can pass the charging cable, allowing us to recharge our iPad both horizontally and vertically, without the slightest problem.
When placing the iPad on the stand, the feeling of security is very high. The hinges are strong enough that once you set the desired position, it won't move half a millimeter. In fact, if you can put a problem on the support, it is that sometimes you need both hands to be able to articulate it. I prefer this to being slack or giving way little by little ... for me, the decision made by Satechi in this regard is the correct one.
the stand allows you positions for very different uses. It's great for enjoying multimedia content, but it also allows place it next to your main monitor to make use of the Sidecar function with macOS, which turns your iPad into a second monitor, with all the advantages that this entails. And I find the lowest position very comfortable to be able to write or draw with the Apple Pencil. And if you want to use an external keyboard and mouse, having your iPad on this stand will allow you to place it in the best position to work with it.
Editor's opinion
The versatility of the Satechi aluminum stand allows it to be used in many ways: with an external keyboard and mouse, to write with the Apple Pencil, enjoy multimedia content, or to use it as an additional monitor to your Mac thanks to Sidecar. Add to this excellent build quality and truly astonishing stability, the result is an accessory that almost any iPad user would need on their desk. Its price is € 55 on Amazon (link)
