Saurik responds to iMods

Cydia

We recently heard the news that Comex was going to help create an alternative to Cydia and its Cydia Substrate, for those who do not know, Cydia Substrate is the tweak that we all have installed and allows the other tweaks to work, since it is what really injects the code into other apps.

The supposed alternative is called imods, and its goal is to be completely open and at the same time fix defects that Cydia has, for example better protecting tweaks so that cracked versions cannot be downloaded, using a nice and simple interface unlike the web-based Cydia, eliminating the need to restart the springboard every time we install a tweak, and many more ...

So you can see what's going on imods I leave you this video and the link to its official website (click here):

Many known developers As the creator of the theme Andora (@timeloop on Twitter) they work or at least contribute to this project, although its release date to the public was scheduled for the end of 2014 and it turns out that we continue without news (it must also be said that this developer of the which I have put on his Twitter suffered an accident recently and his house caught fire, he lost almost everything, and having family, he has recovered a bit thanks to the fact that the users of his tweaks and topics asked him to accept donations, but he still has many things to solve and recover, perhaps that is one reason why iMods was somewhat paralyzed recently).

This is where Comex comes in, apparently the developers (despite knowing perfectly how to take care of the interface and that) have not been able to solve some more technical aspects, and Comex is going to be in charge of giving them a hand in the development of what should replace Cydia Substrate.

For his part, Saurik defends that open source is not always the best, and for that reason and to avoid problems and even that the jailbreak becomes illegal, Saurik keeps Cydia Substrate and Cydia Installer (the app) as private and closed source projects.

Cydia

We hope to see more news of this promising project very soon, meanwhile Saurik, despite claiming that he would not go to war with anyone even if he wanted to take away the monopoly from Cydia, has launched a last minute desperate measure slightly redesigning the look of Cydia, making everything more flat, and has announced that it will strive to improve Cydia and to make developing tweaks easier, also claiming that we will see news soon.

As soon as more is known about the subject, we will inform you first-hand.

Oh no. This is not a good thing, but it would have to happen. I admire Coolstar's work, but directly attacking Saurik is not right.
I don't blame this team for wanting to excel, but they are right, I don't understand the Jailbreak community. The only consecrated team has always been «Evaders», nobody thanked iH8sn0w and winocm for their JB, neither Pangu nor Jtaig, what's more, even the latter 2 were defamed. This war of wanting to impress the rival instead of uniting or engaging in things of real utility, only affects the community.

I believe that a competition is not bad at all, since with that it will be achieved and will benefit more to those of us who make the JB.

I agree with both you and Abraham, this competition will make Saurik put the batteries and I'm sure that soon we will see more content and better quality in Cydia, also, having an alternative always works well, let's see what they offer us in iMod.

On the other hand, as Abraham says, groups like TaiG and Pangu were not thanked or rewarded for releasing their jailbreak for free and could have made a lot of money from exploits, and all because the community does not trust them as they are of Chinese origin, when you look now, apart from the fact that China is emerging as a great technological power thanks to companies such as OnePlus, Xiaomi or Meizu, it has also managed to beat iPhone sales to the United States, so we will have to get used to that much content comes to us from this country. And I am grateful to both TaiG and Pangu (despite the fact that they both made a cut by selling the possibility of installing an app store together with the Jailbreak that contained the AppStore apps for free, as in the last case the 3K app, but it was optional, it was not installed yes or yes).

For this reason alone, I do not predict too much success for the alternative store to Cydia. Piracy existed, exists and will always exist. In fact I am one of those who download cracked tweaks, I test them as long as it takes and if they are really useful I buy them. There are few tweaks that allow you to try before buying and those that leave in many cases do not give you enough time to assess if it is really worth its cost. Yes, you will tell me that they are only worth one dollar but it is one dollar from here, two or three from there, etc, etc, let's say that if we add all the tweaks that I carry or have carried on my iPhones since I started with Apple, they add up a not inconsiderable amount and in some cases they have not been updated; For example, the one that bothers me the most to have bought right now is Manual Correct Pro because it was a tweak that I used a lot and it is not, nor does it look like, because of the heights of the movie we are in that it is going to be, compatible with iOS 8, and like this there are several.

On the other hand, there are also several developers who update their tweak with each new iOS and charge again for it, which in many cases seems embarrassing to me because they do nothing more than update some lines of code to be compatible with the new iOS without adding anything else.

I certainly no longer be that the vast majority of tweaks (and beware! I mean good tweaks), are free I will stay in Cydia, and as I can be sure that many more.

I fully agree 🙂 although I insist that the competition will be good for us because we will see better quality products

I stay in cydia, I download a lot of cracked tweaks because I do not have Amazon or PayPal because I do not have a bank account (I am 18 years old), I would like them to add another payment option like when you buy in the App sotre thanks to the iTunes cards of 15, 25, 50 etc ... if they put that it would be the ostia I would be vitiated to buy tweaks like bioprotect, virtual home8, slide2kill8 pro, Auxo 3 etc, have if saurik does that and can buy me legal tweaks bone bought not cracked ...
