SBSettings and NCSettings: add shortcuts to basic functions (Cydia)

NC-Settings

If there is a function that has been claimed by iOS users for years that is the possibility of add shortcuts to enable or disable functions as basic as WiFi, 3G network, data connection or Bluetooth of our devices. Having to leave an application to enter the settings menu and navigate through it to deactivate the WiFi of our device is something inconceivable, but at the moment things are like this. Luckily, the Jailbreak is once again the salvation of many and in Cydia we have several possibilities to add these direct access buttons to the Notification Center of our iPad, and thus be able to access them from anywhere. Perhaps the two best known applications for this are SBSettings, a classic since the beginning of the Jailbreak, and NCSettings, with less history, but for me the best option. We go on to see them in detail.

NCSettings-Settings

I choose NCSettings because it is simple, easy to configure and it offers me what I ask for: shortcuts to the main functions. As you can see in the image that heads the article, aesthetically it is well designed, without great frills, but it integrates perfectly into the Notification Center. To configure it we must go to the iOS Settings and select the NCSettings menu. The options are self-explanatory, the most important being the "Buttons" option in which we can select which buttons we want to appear, "Theme" in which we can choose between two available themes, and "Buttons per page" in which we will set the number of buttons that are seen simultaneously. There is not much else to do, just use it. The buttons available are many, at least all the ones I need are included by default. Free and available in the ModMyi repo.

SBSettings

SBSettings is the other option, with many more options, many more customization possibilities, and countless buttons available. For those of you looking for something more, it sure won't disappoint you. Aesthetically it is not well adapted to the iPad screen, although it is not very noticeable either, the fact that the buttons are not well centered shows this. Its configuration is somewhat more complex.

SBSettings-1

Once installed, an icon appears on the Springboard. If we press it, the configuration menu appears, in which we will see that it is an application designed more for iPhone than for iPad.

SBSettings-Options

The configuration possibilities are many. The ones that I recommend are:

  • In DropDown Windows, mark «Disable Window», so that the window mode does not work.
  • In iOS 5+ Notification, select "Separate List" to be able to choose the buttons we want to add. In "Set Notification Toggles" we can choose the buttons that we want to add. In "Notification Theme" the theme, and in "Notification Options" display options, I recommend deactivating all except "More button Row".

With these options it is as seen in the screenshot above. But SBSettings does not stop at this, because it is much more customizable, with many themes available in Cydia, and better yet, there are buttons for almost everything you can imagine. Do you want to add more buttons? Enter Cydia, go to Sections and click on "Addons (SBSettings)". It is a free application available on the BigBoss repo.

SBSettings-Addons

What is your preferred option? I am staying with NCSettings for the moment. When Auxo is compatible with the iPad, then maybe I consider the change.

More information - Auxo is made compatible with iOS 5 (Cydia)

How can you put the time in the notification center as it appears in the image in ios 6.1.2?

The only option I have found is on an unofficial repo. I have installed it and I have no problems, but I do not recommend its use, so everyone acts at their own risk. The repo is: http://bassamkassem.myrepospace.com

BatteryDoctorPro is better than both, it displays the same buttons on the NC and also gives the option to customize indoor, outdoor and alarm modes. Oh and it's free.

BatteryDoctorPro is an excellent application with many functions, and among all of them it has toggles. This article talks about applications whose main function is to create shortcuts. I don't see much use for BatteryDoctorPro on the iPad, I don't even know if it's compatible.
