Seagate Wireless Plus: 1TB of space for your device

seagate-1

When I bought my first iPad I made the serious mistake of buying it with only 16GB. I bought it thinking that it would hardly need space since it was not going to be my main device, and I would hardly use it for email, internet and some games. As I say, serious mistake. The iPad has become almost as important a device as my iPhone, with the limitations imposed by its size, of course. That fantastic Retina display is perfect for playing HD videos, and when I'm at home I use iTunes shared library, but when I go out, I can barely fit a couple of HD movies because I don't have any more free space. For a long time I have been looking for extra storage options, like the one offered by Kingston with its Wi-Drive, but its price seems excessive for the capacity it offers (about 140 euros for 128GB). Much more interesting seems to me the Seagate Wireless Plus, a WiFi hard drive with 1TB of capacity for $ 199

How does it work? The Seagate Wireless Plus has the appearance of a normal portable hard drive, with a USB 3.0 connection with which you can connect it to your computer and thus add content. It is compatible with Windows and Mac, although it is in NTFS format so you must have applications such as Paragon NTFS or Tuxera NTFS to be able to add content if you are a Mac user. And how does it connect to your iPad or iPhone? The disk creates by itself a WiFi network to which you connect from your iOS device, and through the Seagate Media application that you can download for free from the App Store, you can browse all the content on your hard drive. The Wireless Plus allows the connection of up to 8 different devices simultaneously, and the playback of up to three different movies in HD format at the same time on different devices. What formats are supported? There are no clear references, although the mp3, mp4, jpg and pdf formats do appear on the web, nothing is said about other options. Nor is it said anything about the possibility of opening files with applications other than the official Seagate.

In addition, the disc allows you to download multimedia content to your iPad and iPhone to be able to see it directly on your device. You can also do the opposite operation: transfer content to disk from your device. It is compatible with other DLNA devices and allows content to be played via AirPlay from your iPad or iPhone to your TV if you have an Apple TV. As if all this seems little to you, it has an internal battery that allows continuous use for 10 hours, more than enough for most users. A fantastic option for all those who have run out of space on their device.
